Ah, tobiast's back.

It's just some lines from the game I ran twice through one of those internet translators Japanese->English->Japanese, which screws them up pretty badly. It's all in Japanese and there's small ep4 character/music spoilers, so watch at your own risk.

Having just switched to linux as my main OS I was wondering if you guys had a build of onScripter for it? I tried running Umineko through wine and wine locale, but the bgs with japanese filenames won't play.

I'm really starting to wish they had them in an archive instead of just individual files.

Do you have subversion installed? Then you can type
svn co http://svn.haeleth.net/onscr/trunk/

Just installed it now to try to try that out. Have you compiled this version of onscripter before? I wanted to know if it could use most of the effects like the other builds do.

I don't know about the Windows version, however I have played all the Umineko translations so far with the svn version of onscripter in Linux without any noticeable problems.

Just as a cultural note, svn repositories that are directly affiliated to the developers like this one usually contain the very latest version off a program. Like, if there was a feature that was just implemented last night it will be there. Conversely they also tend to be a little unstable, hence the umbrella name for this releases: "bleeding edge".

I'm pretty sure that's the same codebase used for the Windows version, so it should support the same amount. I'll confirm that the demo version ran fine under the executable compiled from that source.

Well basically the problem is this line

cc1plus: warnings being treated as errors

which tell will cause the building process to fail with any warning in the code. Somewhere in the makefile it should be activating the -Werror flag. You should search the Makefile and see who it is activating it, and just delete it.

Another easy solution in orrder to avoid the installation script to build itself all its dependencies and for it to just build the onscripter binary is to install the dependencies yourself. One such way in Debian based systems like Ubuntu is

sudo apt-get build-dep onscripter

Removing the -Werror flag is a bad idea. It'll just cover up the real problem. Onscripter-en builds just fine on my system without any errors.

Try installing the development libraries needed. Maybe there's a problem with one of the extlibs provided.

That is: "sudo apt-get install libSDL-dev libvorbis-dev ...", and so for the rest.
Then rerun configure, and run make again.

Well instead of causing it to crash on a random compiler warninig having it crash on a more meaningful line would help us get to the problem cause quicker

Hmm... well yeah, I guess that's the verbose way of doing what apt build-dep does.

Well running build-dev for onscripter seemed to have fixed things. Some of the effects are missing in this version, but I'm glad to see this working properly. Thank you Proto and rogerpepitone!

So.. first of all sorry for the question,

But is everything going fine? Cause I just noticed that you've removed your recruitment notice on the Baka-Tsuki Wiki. Having a notice could get you more helping hands. :/

The ripple/wave, swirl, and I think the effect where the character image splits into pieces.

Hey I have a question. I have episode 4 and I'm using the episode compatible patch (I think it's called v4 3.1) and in the tea parties the music doesn't play. The only music I've heard in all three so far was Over The Sky and Mirage Coordinator. I'm not sure if there's anything else but I think there is. Are there some tracks I'm missing?
