once it finishes, it should be installed. It wont auto-start.

2 ways to check.
  1. Take the DVD out and put it back in. Instead of the first button being clickable, the second and third should. It only does that once installed correctly. (one runs it, and one uninstalls - I dont know which)
  2. Check the Start menu for All Programs->07th_Expansion->うみねこのなく頃にEP2->Umineko2 - if that icon exists, its installed correctly. You can click on that to run it

Once thats confirmed, just install the english translation patch and you should be ready to go....

I don't know what I am doing wrong...U-U

The First option is clickable...but not the second or third. U-U;

Here is what might help:

- I have that language tool Sterling01 told me to do, is that messing anything up?
- When clicking on the big box it brings up another screen giving me the choices, "yes" or "no." When clicking on "no" nothing happens, while clicking on "yes", it makes it download.
...yet I have NO CLUE what the small box selection does...

Thanks everyone for helping me thus far.

Fairly sure that smaller button is a "browse for folder" button - this PC has Umineko installed, so I cant confirm yet.

And that Yes/No looks like a standard "The folder <blah> does not exist. Do you want to create it?"

When installing, it doesnt actually close windows. Once you start the install, it should pop up in the top left corner a progress bar. this will go along to the end, then disappear, then another will appear. This happens a number of times (one for each file). Once done, it should close all windows except the first one (with the 3 buttons).

If you are still having trouble, I can give you instructions on peforming a 'manual' install - it really is just some file copying...

The first image is asking do you want install the game to this folder?
The small box means browse (it lets you chose where you want to install the game)
the third just installs it

So if you already installed it once just go to where it says in the first image

Was there a BGM during the misfortune scene with Maria? When I played with the patch there was only a the sounds of the waves but in a preview of it on youtube, there was a scary music that didn't play when I played...

Well the translation is completely finished. It's the editing that's taking so long

I'm still reading through the second volume [scripts, sadly], but I'd just like to say that I'm very grateful for the translations. I wish I could help with editing somehow, or at least pick out the obvious grammar and spelling errors.

Hey, sterling
Could you edit this, on baka-tsuki?

Umineko Episode 2

* Translation 87%
* Editing 40%
* Image Editing 10%

Change translation to 100%

You know, I found out some idiots () around the net who didn't start reading episode 2 because they are waiting for it to be 'completed'. They think it is stuck at 87%. I warned them about it, but maybe there are more dumb people who are not curious enough to click the links and see that everything is done

Who's actually in charge of the project at this time?
I've been messing around with the the 0.txt and managed to get it running with the next three chapters translated and edited.
For chapters 2 and 3(numbering from the original; starts right after the current patch ends) I made some changes to the text posted on baka-tsuki, but I decided to translate chapter 4 from scratch.
They all work perfectly if you just replace the current 0.txt with my version. Anyone interested?

...It's just that I'd hate to see this die like the Minagoroshi-hen translation.

I have been working on an automated insertion program for this game. I found it rather interesting (it was like trying to beat a game lol, damn those multiple byte characters). Last time I tried it, it worked almost perfectly fine, but it was failing at some lines that start with ! or something like that (so for example, at chapter 3 there were like 6 lines in the wrong place). I don't know if you people still have this text insertion problem, but when i finish my exams i'll start working on this again.

Yeah at the time I made that question I was wondering if I could help with that. However it is even better that someone else stepped up to the task because right now I'm to the neck with thesis related work

Yeah, when you're translating from scratch, it's probably easier to just use a text editor.
All you need to do is add quotes around each line (with the Witch Hunt patch) and copy a '@' every line and a '¥' every page (also '/' and "/@"). The !'s usually change the speed or cause delays.

If you're typing each line in manually as you translate, that works as well as anything.

Onscripter is basically an open source implementation of NScripter. It is lagging a little behind in features but thanks to the efforts of people like mion of the sonozaki it is catching up (though it packs a set of useful features itself, like the capability to display English characters ). The translation project uses onscripter, plus the patches they supply to the main trunk.
