typhonsentra, but Taiga doesn't give her life for Ryuuji either nor give up on her personal happiness to make Ryuuji happy, like Louise do.
Besides sleeping on the floor happened only up to volume 3...And thats not so much considering how long the series are. Louise is a very likable character in the novels once you see how she develops further from annoying noble brat. |

What are you talking about? Volume 7 and 8 of Znt novels?
No of course not, thats what we get glimpses of what Louise's core is. Volume 7 and 8 of Toradora? Taiga acts were more selfless than ever in there but they still do not match Louise's for many reasons. |

Yes, I meant Toradora.
And of course they don't match. But they're still significant. And the real reason they don't match is because of the genre. Love comedy in the modern world vs. fantasy. This isn't exactly the kind of world where you have the opportunity to even risk your life or your happiness that often. Also Louise gets the benefit of having 6 more volumes in her series and the same stuff that PastPrime mentioned. |

Taiga is even more bitchy than Louise most of the times indeed. If you don't like the type of person that's aggrassive, unsocial and selfish from the outside, but kind and sweet once you're able to become close to her...then Taiga just won't become your favourite character, since her outer layer is very strong and it's nearly impossible to completely break through
![]() She isn't called the palmtog tiger for nothing. In order to 'survive', she's built a barrier around herself which 'protects' her. Only Minorin and now Ryuuji have really been able to break through this barrier. Ryuuji is the only one who seems to really understand her though, although he can't understand one very important detail (the growing feelings she has for him). But even if she's opening up to him, it doesn't mean that she'll completely change as a character. She'll continue to stay an aggresive tsundere, which has her sweet moments every now and then. Ryuuji accepts this and continues to be with her. He chooses to be with her, even though he can walk away when he wants to. So you could say that Ryuuji is a really nice guy to be able to put up with her, but you could also say that there's a real bond between the two. Although they don't show it often, they really care for each other. Both can't leave the other one alone and both want to be around each other, although they'd never admit this out loud. Throughout the novels, they slowly come to understand their feelings and of course it'll make her act less bitchy towards him in the long run. But that's the fun part of reading this novel. The character development and drama are nicely done imo and I love how the main characters are lost for most of the time as to what their feelings mean and how they slowly come to realise them. Spoiler for novel 9 and future novels:

Please remember that this is meant to be the Toradora novel discussion thread and while there appears to be a number of comparisons to Zero no Tsukaima there is no reason to spoil the events from a different series.

I'm up to v4c3.
While at first, I couldn't understand how Kitamura could say he liked Ami's real personality, it's definitely grown on me. Sure, she's rude, selfish, and spoiled, but she isn't bad. I'd rather put up with her than Taiga. |

Novel 4 is very entertaining. I can't wait for some nice scenes to be animated in the next few episodes.
I like the scenes between Ryuuji and Taiga, while Minorin, Kitamaru and Ami all have their moments as well. I like the weird chemistry the group as a whole has as well ![]() Edit Just saw episode 9 of the anime... Spoiler for episode 9 of the anime spoilers:
Sometimes the novel is just more more enjoyable than the anime/manga, because the details and subtle moments are conveyed better in the novels.
