Okay, I don't know if this news is real or not but....
・『猫物语』は、化物语DVD・BD6巻と同时発売。

《猫物语》和化物语动画最终卷同时卖

・『倾物语』は、『伪物语』より后の话。『绯色の英雄』以降の発売。

Basically it is something about Nekomonogatari being sold at the same time as the last volume. Can someone confirm this? sirn?

Implying that Neko will be released around June? Well, the source is apparently an interview that Nishio-sensei did for a book/publication(?) that commemorates the end of his "Ningen" series. (source)
But I haven't found it anywhere else yet...

Out of them all I guess Coalgirls would be the best. However, I have to extract the subs on every episode and change some of the stuff since the translations are not constant or wrong. I realize that Coalgirls only do the timing and the translations are from a different group, just.....food for thought

Nishio mentions a June release date ("probably") in the about the author section here: http://shop.kodansha.jp/bc/kodansha-...l3/index2.html

Coalgirls is using BR Rip while GG and Koharubi subbed the broadcast rips and on this show you don't want to stick to broadcast (since virtually all of episode 10 and some of episode 9 were replaced by still frames since they couldn't finish them in time, typical Shaft).

Sorry I'm still catching up on my terminology since I was late to the anime party but what's a BR rip?

A BR Rip means a Blu-Ray Rip.
Blu-Ray's are the full High Definition Discs most popular anime's distribute in Japan currently. I think you know this, but just in case!

Now Azuma mentioned [Zero-Raws], they are a group who specialise in ripping Blu-Ray movies, anime and etc. Like ripping media from a DVD. Though if you can't understand Japanese, you'll need to find a sub file like .ass to accompany the episode you wish to watch because it's a raw meaning that they just ripped exactly what is off the disc into an .mkv plus other material.

gg and Koharubi uses the broadcast version of the anime which was recorded during the series actual broadcast period, the highest quality is of 720p while Blu-Ray can give full HD. Blu-Ray also shows animation fixes made and extra scenes due to limitations of the broadcast.

The only two groups I know of who do Blu-Ray versions of this show is THORA and CoalGirls. I recommend CoalGirls. THORA has been very behind due to their missing encoder but has now returned.

I hope this helps Lizzie even though I went a little Overkill.
If I did accidentally say something incorrect that you know of, tell me. Because I just skim around groups.

@ Azuma Denton, where do you get the re-timed versions of gg's script for the Blu-Ray or just script from any group?

@ omimon, would it be a bother if you uploaded your re-edited script for CoalGirl's version? That'd be great!

Speaking of quality, I don't know which to pick of the two available from coalgirls.
Oh and it was helpful AC730 but I'm still somewhat confused on which of the two to take.

There's 1080p and 720P. I've had an issue running a high definition amine before but -most- run fine on high def. Most of what I have is H264.

I ran into the same sort of dilemma you had, Lizzie when choosing between which groups. Personally I think they are both great. But since THORA is behind by so much, I suggest sticking with Coal Girls. The great thing is that Coal Girls have soft subbed so you may remove their subs and use another groups script if you wanted.

Now I don't know where to get the scripts individually but I'm finding that one out. But make sure if you find one it's timed to the Blu-Ray version.

Here's a group comparison to show some differences:
http://www.ji-hi.net/bakemonogatari/index.html

Now they don't show the Blu-Ray groups but THORA takes qq and II subs .ass files and times it to their Blu-Ray plus editing of some bits. They translate everything they can on screen as you can see in the pictures while the others don't. It may annoy you, it may not. It's really up to you. Coal Girls does the same except they use Koharubi's script for dialogue if I remember correctly. Coal Girls already covers episode 1 to 10 and have a set date for the next disc which includes episodes 11 to 13. While THORA only has episodes 1 - 5 and no news of progress at all. Coal Girls has mistakes but they said they'll fix them for their next release. Hopefully this helps.

The 720 and 1080 issue really depends on what purpose the show serves as. Is it something you'll watch over again? Or you want to enjoy it on your own television screen? Personally I think 1080 is definitely better because the quality. Now my computer is really slow... I mean slow like it lags the audio for 1080p. So I rarely keep it with .ass subs, that means I encode the subs on to the video itself on my own time so my computer doesn't have to deal with it. If you're computer is the main source for watching and it's too slow I can help fix that problem. But it's better with a Blu-Ray player and a USB.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
I myself asked these once, and had to find out myself so I know quite a lot about .mkv files and their quirks with computers and players now.

Hope this helps!

@ omimon, Thank you! That would be much appreciated!

If it's on Mephisto it is probably true.

I don't know if it's been a subject of discussion before, but I'm wondering about the fanservice in Bakemonogatari. Bakemonogatari is anime that, to me, attempts to play around with many of the tropes typically associated with harems. The typical nice guy lead is being deconstructed as he realises that doing the nice thing all the time means hurting people aswell. The typical "Guy sorting out the Girl of the weeks problem" is also deconstructed because every one of them is...well...a monster that could kill him. Senjougahara as a Tsundere was actually subverted because it didn't take long her to just spit it out and that wasn't even the reason behind her tsun or dere in the first place.

Now keeping that in mind, I'm generally not okay with fanservice and try my best to stay away from that kind of thing. But i haven't really had much of a problem with it in Bakemonogatari, because in this anime I can't help but feel as if the fanservice itself is being portrayed as somewhat...fetishy and disturbing. Almost as if the fanservice is also being deconstructed aswell. Does anyone get that feeling as well or am I just over-analysing?

Like AC730 said (nice job by the way, props en route ) if you just want to watch go the 720p route. I tried the 1080p version and my computer (a 2,6GHZ core 2 duo) has trouble keeping up with the soft-subbed flashes at the beginning of each episode (you'll get what these are as soon as you watch the show) so I say stick with the 720p version for maximum enjoyment. Also if you don't have a screen capable of showing 1080 vertical pixels (like a full HD TV set or a 22" or higher computer monitor) you'll just be wasting space on the high-resolution version.

True but even after stating her love she still keeps acting tsun tsun by being mean and putting him down with her words for her personal satisfaction.

Generally nearly all computer should be able to handle 720p.
You just need to use the correct video player.
Now I recommend CCCP, which is a file composed of all the codecs that you will ever need for your anime, for me that is. It also includes Classic Media Player which is a good player for .mkv plus .ass soft-subs.

The issue is the amount of soft-subs the computer has to handle.
qq and II subs translates as much as they can on screen. So what happens is the computer has to render all the soft-subs with color and text type on screen as you watch it. Sometimes the audio lags as well, this might be because of decoders running when they aren't necessary. I can help with that because my computer loves to mess up my audio for me, it just requires tweaking of decoder settings for the audio.

If the problem is soft-subs, I recommend encoding the subs, aka hard-subbing it. But the process maybe tedious. However if you want to view this on your Television it works better for game consoles or just any digital player in general if you DON'T have a Blu-Ray Player. If you do, just plug the file right into the player.

And yes, if you don't have a 1080p TV I strongly suggest 720p because it is not worth all the trouble of all the processes of getting subs encoded or whatnot. I can help with the encoding if you need help with it. But encoding is mostly for players that don't know .ass files like a portable player or mp3 player with video capabilities.

@ Azuma Denton, that would be very helpful thanks! Can you display the links to the torrent and your edited script? Thank you.

I think the point of Araragi helping others in his case is because he knows what it's like to deal with these 'oddities'. The fan-service plays as role being that all the 'victims' are all female in this case. Now Araragi isn't so much as a nice guy as he is more a Samaritan that wishes to help others.

Now I'm not sure if what I said is completely true because the experiences of Araragi's vampire ordeal is written after Bakemonogatari. So I might be wrong here because people won't be able to see what Araragi's true intentions for helping is or his ideals.

The anime compared to the light novel has a significantly reduced amount of fan-service, due to the fact that all media of sorts has limitations to display what the novel has to truly offer.

The fan-service is portrayed quite well in this anime, it's because it they actually develop the characters in the plot quite well. Other fan-service in other anime sometimes feel out of place and really off the plot. But Bakemonogatari does a good job of implementing it!
