Ah. I love writing so much. I never thought I would find a Creative Writing forum around here.
I usually work on my drawing more than writing, though I end up with some free time to 'express myself'.

Spoiler for Preview of Possible Fic:

Still under Progress

Is poetry welcome?

To William Butler Yeats
Spoiler:

I love poerty because it's something that causes fascination and it's an oral thing. It's beauty is spoken and it speaks of time and a person and all that obvious wonderful stuff. I could go on saying good things about it because it's mysterious to me, but I don't think I can now.

I am about to sigh and soak all the happy thoughts in the world. =)

Gender

Well, I'm currently (on fanfiction.net) working on a story called Gender Wars. I just wanted to come here and ask:

What do you think about the segregation of female and males?

What do you think would cause something like this? I've already come up with this much. I just want to know others opinion about it.

I don't know. It sounds very apocalyptic in nature. Still, I think it has a lot of potential.

Does it matter how many words you know in your writing or how you use them?

Though having a large vocabulary makes the piece of writing more intelligent, it's not always necessary. I find that the only real words you need to know are common ones that are easily understood, and lots and lots of synonyms at times.

IMO, it's all about how you write, not not what complicated words you can cram in, unless its for a good reason.

But most people will agree, that some words are more aesthetically pleasing than others. Having a good vocabulary in your writing is good but not mandatory.

Very valid points. Using big words does make you look more educated but it's better to use words you are already familiar with through every day use.

Another thing I learned is that if a point can be conveyed through "easy words" then substituting with long-winded college-level words is unnecessary.

It's how you use them that's important. Different words have different nuances in different situations. When do green fields become verdant? When you have blazing blue seas under an azure sky. Why pursue a vendetta when mere revenge would suffice? Because hatred alone is not enough to describe my loathing.

When you know what you want to mean, and what feelings you want to evoke, all that's left is to find the right word for the right job. It has to sound perfect and yet be precise.

Acquiring a vocabulary is no more than a technique. Putting it to use, on the other hand, is a self-taught art. Be honest, don't be pretentious. That's how you'll win your audience.

I don't know if this could apply to anyone else but if one is exposed to more advanced words at an early age, he will be able to maintain a stronger vocabulary.

My fifth grade teacher taught me the word "apropos" when he sent me on an errand to give our very intimidating principal a VHS tape; he told me to tell her that "it would be very apropos." Ever since then I've never forgotten the word and I frequently use it in conversation when possible.

Reading helps the reader acquire a vocabulary as well as it shows how these more complex words are used in context.

It just occurred to me that I've been thru this episode again.
If KyoAni doesn't stop with deja vu, I'll drop this.
I will never give up as I attempt to endure the endless agony
but again I'm getting really angry.
If Kyon will think of the solution, it will end this madness for su-sure
But every time, some how every time somehow Haruhi leaves him.

Endless Eight hasn't ended
No matter how many times the fans get pissed, Kyon just continues it.
And even though they find the solution
It's no use. Haruhi resets the clock 'cause she forgot something.
I hope as hard as I can
But when I face with the makers I'm helpless again
I'll try again, of course, but this is my plan
I'll keep my patience saved just as long as I can!

- Endless Eight will not end (Airman will not die / Airman ga Taosenai)

Unsure if this is the right section though.

Don't worry its ended now .

On a separate note, I've always avoided describing my characters in anyway, in a way it makes them very vague and at times nearly not human to the imagination. But I usually can't take myself commit to making the visual form of a character, I'm not sure why.

Typically characters are usually attractive or idealized, I don't believe I've ever read about a character whom could be considered ugly. When you guys write or think of new characters do you find that you typically try to create a relatively attractive character? I'm trying to reach a more tangible form with my writing (probably third person) and I'm quite clueless.

Here are three of my latest poems born out of boredom during class hours.

This one I made during Psychology class:

Faith
Mithfalath

Smile. You mean a lot to the world.
Laugh. Your wishes have been granted.
Frown. The world means a lot to you.
Cry. Your wishes will never be enough.

Leap. The world is waiting for you.
Run. There are places waiting to be discovered.
Swim. The waters calm your soul.
Cry. Your wishes will never be enough.

Write. The world needs your thoughts.
Sing. The world needs your music.
Love. The world needs your warmth.
Cry. Your wishes will never be enough.

Dream. Your wishes may just come true.
Cry. Your wishes will never be enough.
Wish. Your tears can never be enough.
Enough. Your wishes will just make you cry.

--------------------------------------------------------

This one is my self-interpretation on the wonderful instrumental piece by Explosions in the Sky entitled Your Hand in Mine:

Your Hand in Mine
Mithfalath

Hair sways the fourth time,
My eyes remained stationary.
You moved along the line,
I felt your hand in mine.

A smile in the darkest fears,
Wonders even the gulls at far.
To wipe away all the tears,
And lessen all arrears.

This song you wished to sing,
Still resonates in this fragility.
Now that the dawn is breaking,
This riven heart began trembling.

To you, I did confide,
This lone and wandering soul.
But now, the truth shall not hide,
Yes, I know, you were never by my side.

--------------------------------------------------------

I was held back in the dormitory the whole day one time because of a typhoon, and thus, this was born:

Downpour
Mithfalath

Since 6pm a night ago
Until today 2pm the day after,
The rain has not stopped
To harness its potential.

There is no sun to brighten up the day.
All is gloomy, all is dark
Frozen is my body and my heart
As silence eats me alive.

And with this,
I am wet all over…
…again.

Oh, shizuku will you ever stop?
Oh, namida I know you wouldn’t stop.

--------------------------------------------------------

Also, to those who have ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD to read these kinds of stuff, I have created a somewhat novel, which is not yet finished and I don't know when will it be. Although my projected finish time will have to be before the third week of October in preparation for my second one. Anyway, the title is Lonely Road and you can read it, if you want, HERE. Thanks.
