Actually, what makes Tracing inseparable from being a genius with swords? A natural talent with swords is quite moot, seeing as how some people are talented in strategizing and ranged attacks.

Ah, seems like you're back to using the "Metal" element you thought of, and it looks like it evolved into magnetism. One immediate toning down effect that you'd probably need to consider is that this skill can only affect macroobjects and not microobjects. No blood pulling, enzyme denaturation, and stuff like that. Else, we'll have to give you a big hammer. Well, there's also the Device disabling effect, but we'll wait and see.

Iris's abilities revolve around the creation of a special form of liquid metal. Much in the same way that Signum and Fate have mana conversion abilities for fire and lightning, Iris's Rare Skill allows her to convert mana into a solid mass of magically-enhanced metal which she uses as her primary weapon. With her focus on swordsmanship, it's natural that she would place a certain amount of emphasis on creating swords and the like, but she also uses any metal she creates to erect shields, launch explosive attacks, enhance the strength of her armor and weapons, sprout metallic tentacles/wings/limbs from her body, and all kinds of other cool stuff. Magnetism doesn't really have a place in that lineup. Her ability to control sources of metal that she didn't create herself is quite limited, unless there's something in the Affinity data that says Fate and Signum can convert natural fire/lightning into mana, and not just the other way around....

Oh, and Unlimited Blade Works exists somewhere in her distant future. This is a plot-related event connected to Iris finding the purpose of her existence, namely acting as Vivio's sword and shield, and deciphering the proper incantation to manifest her spirit on the physical plane as a reality marble. This wouldn't take place until late in at least the first story arc.

Right, liquid metal. I don't think it's impossible for natural lightning/fire to be converted to mana. Recall the food being transformed to mana from the DVD booklet of the mage's diet? Using the same theory, it works both ways. The only reason it's not made canon is that, Fate and Signum are not totally immune to those physical energies, so they can still get zapped or burned to charcoal from exposure. Perhaps they're resistant, but definitely not immune.

Liquid metal, though, would be even tougher. I can't imagine Iris munching on metal pipes and drinking mercury and still be safe.

While this is very similar to the most recent version posted, I've made a few things more overt and concrete in this version, and taken steps to ameliorate

certain otherwise overpowered aspects.

one obvious change is that David is now an explicit Rare Ability user, with a special skill linked into his background called Savant. In practical terms,

this reflects the fact that David has been using magic unconsciously and near constantly for a long time without realising, until it is pretty much reflexive

for him. Because of this, David's casting times are exceptionally fast; as mentioned, often the spell is fully cast before he's even thought of it fully.

Also because of this, David's spells are much less precise than a normal mage's, and can vary wildly dependent on his subconscious mental state.

Because he's not only an unclassified mage, but also a Rare Ability user, it makes his acceptance by and rise through the Bureau that much more likely, and

so sets the scene for him to be included in major story arcs (hint hint), without seeming out of place next to the much more (directly) powerful main

characters.

Another obvious change (or at least one that sets the Haxbuster alarm bells ringing) is the fact that he now has THREE, yes count 'em THREE Devices: Two

heavily altered Boost Devices and His armed device.
This obviously requires Justification. The story behind them is this:

The Boost Devices serve to manage and regulate specific areas of David's unpredictable Savant powered spells. Each is keyed to a specific area, and prevents

spells of that type getting out of hand due to subconscious mental issues or vagaries of unconscious spell forming. This is explained in their own profile

entries. Basically, they are used as a form of 'Smart' limiter that keeps things under control, but still allows his full power to be used when necessary.

The armed Device, then simply becomes the primary offensive implement.

The other part of it is that I wanted to produce a Black and a white device to add to the Grey one, and so emphasize the dichotomy of David's role: as a

Battlefield medic, He is expected to heal, but also to kill if needed, and so he is a kind of paradox. Hence we have the two coloured aspects, which reflect

these two roles, and then the grey which reflects his acceptance of such dichotomy.

I think I'm fairly happy with this as it stands...it's got some power behind it, but not too much as to upset the applecart, or dethrone aces and major

frontliners, but at the same time, he's there to fight with all he's got, and to pick up the pieces afterward if need be...

He may not be Awesome, but he's got your Back...

Or should that be (and for the original owner of this phrase too, for those that recognize it...)

LOL Never thought I'd see a Trauma Center reference here. So it's preetty much a modified Ascelepius, right?

Anyway, I rather like the implementation of the spells. There are some spells that look awkward if he's a combat medic, but it works well.

... er, there's no 'utmost' proof of Blaster System being Nanoha's own design. Even if the funnels are an extention of it, it doesn't neccesarily mean that

Personally, I consider B.System to be a general 'forced over-boost' system that adapts itself to the device it's equipped with. If other mages use it, it

might have a different implementation of the weapon depending on the user. In Nanoha's case, it just amplified her output and control to the extent it can be

divided into funnels.

I had a plan that delwed into the story behind the creation of the 'general Blaster System', but whatever.

Guys, I have something that I really want to run by you involving Iris.... specifically her status as an S-rank mage.

After some consideration of the situation with Iris and my still-forming picture of her, I realized that there's a very simple, very easy way to match

her up with Vivio as a romantic interest without setting off every squick alarm from here to 4chan, and that method is to make her a child of Project FATE.

The story goes like this: Iris grows up as a member of the Kingswood crime family (named for the Holden Kingswood, in keeping with the tradition of naming

Mid-Childan characters after cars), a high-ranking combat mage and skilled assassin. She's a AAA-rank mage at the age of 19 as of five months after A's, when

Nanoha and Fate begin to conduct an investigation of the Kingswood family and their connection to a mysterious arms dealer, namely good old Scaglietti, who's

supplying the Kingswood family with mass-based weaponry in exchange for funding for the creation of the Numbers.

Eventually Nanoha and Fate begin to zero in on Scaglietti's base of operations, and the Kingswood family responds by dispatching Iris to protect Scaglietti.

At the same time, however, Hayate and the Wolkenritter join the investigation, with Vita reinforcing Fate and Nanoha while Hayate, Signum, Shamal and Zafira

hit the Kingswood family compound.

Fate, Nanoha, and Vita arrive at Scag's base of operations and are met at the front door by Iris. Iris is an even match in power for each of her opponents,

but she has vastly more skill and experience, and successfully does battle with our heroines, stalling them long enough for several of Jail's Type-IV Gadgets

to get into ambush positions. The trap is sprung, Nanoha takes a near-fatal blow, and Fate goes ballistic, unleashing Riot Zamber and Sonic Drive for the

first time and annihilating both Iris and the Gadgets... but Jail has already packed up shop by the time the battle is over.

In the aftermath, one of Jail's Gadgets returns to the site and retrieves Iris's corpse, which is then revived using the techniques involved with Project

FATE. Jail plans to use Iris the same way he uses Lutecia, and for a while he does, using her to steal Jewel Seeds to power his Gadgets with. Eventually,

however, Iris gets too willful for Jail to control, and takes off in search of a more interesting line of work, and hopefully more powerful enemies to face.

Jail dryly makes a note to install some kind of control mechanism in the still-developing Lutecia. Eventually, Iris falls in with another crime family, who

use her as their top assassin until Vivio shows up a few years after StrikerS.

My justifications for the S-rank are as follows: first, Iris spent the majority of her first life in training to become the Kingswood family's chosen

enforcer/assassin, and it took her quite a number of years to reach AAA-rank, as opposed to Nanoha and Fate who basically started off like that. After her

resurrection, she continues her training out of habit, and by the time Vivio turns up on Arcadia, she's had between 7-10 extra years to achieve S-rank.

The advantages of putting her through Project FATE should be obvious from a 'shipper's point of view: with Iris essentially going through her childhood all

over again, she has room to be both very mature and very skilled while still being at a proper age to be Vivio's romantic interest; she'd be about 14-15

years old at the story's start, possibly a bit younger.

My reasons for making Iris into an S-rank are also related to the plot I have laid out. Fate holds Iris largely responsible for Nanoha's near-death

experience, and when Iris comes knocking with Vivio at the end of the first story arc, Fate's not going to be the least bit happy to see her again, creating

an incredible amount of tension between them (Never mind what Vita would have to say about it). This isn't helped in the slightest by the fact that

Iris would gladly fight with Fate again to "settle the score" save for Vivio's wishes, which she will by this time be following faithfully. The tension only

gets greater if Iris is an S-rank, because it suddenly becomes uncertain as to who would come out on top in such a battle.

Well, what do you guys think? I tried to think this out from every angle and I couldn't come up with any flaws in the idea save for the scrutiny S-ranks get

around here. If it's still not enough justification I could also just lower her rank or say that her growth has stagnated since her first death. I also think

I've done a rather bang-up job of smoothly integrating her into canon. But enough about what I think; what do you guys think?

Never said but Fate wasn't likely to be with Nanoha during that particular operation. Even then, the gadgets were still an unknown to the Aces and the TSAB

then sans the Type-4.

Scag has the Brains for funding so it's more likely that he just sought out the family for the gadget parts. Besides, the Brains would want to keep their

prized Orphan close to keep an eye on him.

S-ranks are still okay with justifications and histories. It's the SS ranks or dubious/h4xx abilities that will ring the alarm bells. S-rank mage along the

lines of Zest and a B-rank mage with uber-abilities; pretty obvious which will raise eye-brows.

Personally, if the plot demands a degree of strength, it's better to reflect the moment of the time that strength is needed. If it's needed in general, then

a relative AAA should be enough depending on the situation. You can always give her a lame Rare Skill that would work against one enemy, and nothing else.

Besides, if it's Fate we're talking about, the whole PROJECT F DRAMA would essentially render her... emotionally open.

Actually, to me this picture radiates Tesla. It took me a while before I realized that this was Kyonko and Yuki (and it was Yuki that gave it away. ), and I did do an experimental merge of Tesla and Kyonko a while back. Kyonko's snarky personallity was always mirrored in Tesla anyway.

Much as I apreciate your support, I am in no way going to try and persuade Cort not to write his own Vivio/Iris stories. Even if he wants to put it into kerokanon, I'm not going to stop him from keeping things suggestive. We can work this out to benefit us both, but I am not going to selfishly cling Vivio to myself, much though I want to.

While on the subject of Iris, Cort, I really liked your initial draft better then this one. The girl encountered on a lawless planet -damn I almost wrote Nar Shadaa there - is much more believable and entertaining then this new Assasin-child-turned-roject-F-experiment-of-jail-that-injured-Nanoha-before-encountering-Vivio-and-falling-in-love-creating-chaos-in-the-family girl she has become.

It's true that Blaster Mode for Nanoha looks personalized, but that doesn't necessarily mean the core of the system was designed with RH in mind. If we take what Quattro said, it looked like B.Mode itself is a physical-punisher of an augmenter, and personally, I'd say that it's possible that Blaster Mode was just that system, which was integrated into Nanoha's to allow it to be effectively used with RH.

Basically, the core programming of BS was added quirks and tuning to fit Nanoha's style to maximize the effects of B.S towards Nanoha. It'd be pointless if all it contributed was a bigger beam and stronger gripping power after all.

I thought of Blaster System akin to a chip. The chip's function is *etc*, but depending on the machine-type and the purpose of the machine's user, the external attachments, cards, plugs, needs and everything differ individually, where if Fate is the one to use B.S instead, it would be... I dunno, ZANKANTOU Zamber?

Well, I do it like this: If I think an idea might be haxx, or if I want to figure our how far I can push something, I try to ask whoever I think is most likely to call me on it. Besides, a preliminary questioning isn't ever a bad idea; you should at least present something for the wolvesaudience to chew on.

In the starting days of Ordered Space, The Bureau found itself facing a big problem...

In Relative, Ordered Space was too damn large and administering it as a whole was going to be too damn hard...

So the Bureau turned to its new members, composed of standalone planets, star system-states, kingdoms, empires, emirates, various other associations and also its technical and spritual predecessor, the Galatic Defense Initative or GDI, for help. And after much bureaucracy and negotiation in between sides, the Galaxy was "zoned" according to control among the two powers, the TSAB and GDI, as well as the so-called "range of humanity", basically where humans settled, when plotted against a map of the galaxy it was quite substantial, covering about 15-25% though not defined in a single area, but rather also spread. It had the facility of defining areas of responsibility for each power as well as demarcating the limits of human reach, not just by technological, but also by ethical and various other reasons.

And so, the Galaxy was "zoned" into six distinct Regions, or zones are they are called.


Blue Zones

These zones are the Core Areas of the Bureau, in which they have direct influence/control over affairs, from Civil to Military- the worlds in the Blue Zones are the "True" Administrated Worlds and contain most of the Type-IV (Those that have full magitech and dimensional travel ability) and some Type-III (Those that have Magitech and have only begun to harness diemensional travel) Worlds. The two planets that make up "Midchilda" are examples of planets in the Blue Zones.


Green Zones

These zones are the so-called "Associated Areas" of Ordered Space, and thus the Bureau only has some influence and control, save those "directly administered" planets. The reason for this "association" is that most of the planets/system-states in this zone are autonomous to the point that they have thier own standing armed forces- though limited in size by Bureau Law. And even though the system-states are autonomous, they are still aligned with the Bureau and rely on it for other things, such as broader policies and such. Only a few Type-IV and and Type-II (Those that have FTL tech and had only begun to explore/harness magitech) worlds exist in this zone of predominantly Type-III Systems.


Yellow Zones

These zones are the so-called "Neutral Zones", for they have little or no Bureau influence except in remote outposts / laboratories / facilities- though this is the outer limit of Bureau control and whatever Human GDI presence is only limited to Type-II worlds/systems- even though this is the inner limit of GDI control. The majority of worlds here are either of Type-I (Those that have advanced space travel but only begun to harness FTL technology) or Type-0 (Earth at present) Systems- also called Non-Administrated Worlds. This is where human lawlessness in the forms of organized crime, piracy and other kinds of nefarious activites thrive- usually from organizations from the first two zones. An unusual trait of the Yellow Zone worlds is that most of them (that have some form of order, like Earth) have signs of Ordered Space Expatriates living, as well as some of the most beautiful/famous tourist destinations (*cough*Aqua*cough*) are located. And a more pressing concern is that most of the Yellow Zone worlds have the capability, if "pushed just slightly", to turn into at least Type-II or even Type-III worlds- and based on this premise, this is where most of the Bureau has concerns over at the moment, sending ambassadors/representatives or even asking for assistance from the expatriates to any potential world. One such case of this is the Hallaoun Family, with at least one house on Earth- which is also the home planet of their 3 current Aces.


Orange Zones

These zones is where things become strange, literally. Not only are these zones the outer limit of humanity, this is also where aliens begin to appear. The GDI in this area is composed of Human and alien forces, but more leaning towards the latter. Only few human realms exist in these zones and they have no knowledge of magitech but may or may not have FTL technology. The SETI (extraterrestrial) Type 1/2/3 civilization types are now applied starting here.


Red Zones

These zones are devoid of humans, save those in the highest levels of GDI command and most GDI presence are mostly Alien. This is where the outer limit of GDI control is and most planets here are more frontier-ish than in the Orange Zones.


Black Zones

These zones are the unexplored areas of the galaxy and beyond, even to the GDI.

EVEN THOUGH WE WANT TO TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENS IN THESE ZONES, WE CAN'T TELL YOU BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW EITHER.

Sierra Lancer’s father was one of the key leaders of rebel group called Albion, who attempted to overthrow the Aldian King about a year ago. She was unaware of her father’s participation which explained why she was easily captured by her colleagues after returning from her mission. Sierra was being transported to the capital by a helicopter guarded by five Aldian Knights. Several metal restraints were placed on her arms and struggle chain was casted on her, preventing Sierra from using any spells. As they head to their destination, the Aldians that were holding Sierra received a transmission involving her father. The Aldian Knights who have found her father’s location are asking for additional support since the rebels are holding their defenses well on their hideout. The Captain of the squad declined since their mission was to bring the 3rd Lance to the capital. Sierra heard the conversation; she knew that her father will not surrender no matter what. She tried to break the struggle chain but it was no use. She thought of using her Arc to summon a blizzard but its far to dangerous especially with her device on the hands of the Captain of the squad. Then she saw on the small windows that it was snowing for quite sometime and saw the frozen lake, she just didn’t notice till now. She seized the opportunity and used her Arc. Sierra was then surrounded by a blue light, the 4 Aldian Knights that was guarding her was surprised since she shouldn’t be able to use any magic with the struggle chain casted on her. The knights kept themselves calm since the struggle chain will just absorb the mana. Ice from the frozen lake started to break apart forming spikes of ice and started to levitate towards the lower part of the helicopter. One of the Knights decided to inform the Captain about Sierra. Then the Captain came to the back where Sierra was being held. As he walked in, lots icicles started to pierce through the helicopter from its floor. The icicles hit the metal restraints in Sierra’s arms which set her arms free.



The 2 Aldian Knights had to stop the struggle chain in order to defend themselves from the icicles; however, they were too late. The helicopter was severely damaged and the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing. Sierra was free and then she ran directly to an injured Aldian Knight and threw him directly to the other who was also severely injured. The two collided and went through the damaged wall of the helicopter. The other two knights dashed forward towards Sierra. The first one tried a horizontal slash, Sierra jumped upwards towards him causing the slash to miss; while in mid air, Sierra casted Frozen Rods and then five rods of ice that were 7 feet long and 1 inch thick hit the Aldian knight that attacked her first; one of the ice pillars went through his throat. As Sierra landed the 2nd knight’s sword was on its way to her neck, Sierra ducked and then punched the knight in his stomach. Sierra’s arm went through his back. As she pulled it out, her arm was covered with ice in a form of short sword which was drenched with the knight’s blood. In just a few seconds, Sierra has taken down 4 Aldian Knights. Then the captain thrust his sword covered with fire attempting to stab Sierra with it. Sierra jumped high out of the way causing her to leave the helicopter and avoiding the thrust. Suddenly, 9 spheres of fire came after her, she tried to avoid them but it exploded when it reached her. The captain was sure it was a direct it; however, as the smoke fades away, he saw a wall of ice that had damage in it. He then flew towards it and slashed--creating a wave of fire which destroyed the wall. Then suddenly, 8 Frozen Rods headed towards him; the captain avoided all 7 but the other one hit him from his left side, causing an earing to fall off. Sierra then flew at top speed and when she catched it; a blue blinding light covered her in a form of sphere with small fragments of ice surrounding it. The captain then felt that it’s starting to get colder even more. When the light faded, he saw Sierra in her Barrier Jacket Ibis Form and holding a halberd (Stasis in Silvia Form), her eyes were glowing light blue. The captain then used a movement spell and suddenly appeared at Sierra’s back, as he made a fire based vertical slash, Sierra avoided it by moving to the right while turning and she made a thrust upwards with her halberd which injured the captain in the chest area; Sierra spun her halberd upwards once and made a diagonal slash which unleashed a razor sharp sickle made of ice which cut the captain into two. As she levitates, Sierra was sure that 3 Aldian Knights are dead including the captain; if the other 2 that were thrown out were still alive, then they could barely do any harmful due to the injuries that they sustained. Sierra then flew directly where the damaged helicopter was and found that pilot was gone. She followed the footprints and blood in the snow and finally found the injured pilot. She forced the information out of the pilot which took a lot of time.




After receiving the location of her father, Sierra made her way. As she arrived in the area, she saw lots of corpses. Many of them were Aldian Knights. She also saw the corpses of the knights that sided with the rebels, there were normal people too…even people who had no magical capabilities were fighting along side the knights. As she walked through the area, Sierra saw nothing but corpses. As she walked, she heard some people talking. She approached a big tree slowly. Sierra crouched in one of its branches and saw that the rebels that survived were slowly boarding several vehicles. She then saw a guy standing near it. It was the 7th Lance, Lanos Skylark, in Sierra’s eyes it looked like Lanos was making sure that none of the rebels escape. Then the last person boarded but her father was nowhere to be found. She then moved to the other side. As she passes through the area full of trees, she saw a hill nearby. Then she saw her father’s figure. Sierra was about to go his side but she then saw a person with long hair and his eyes were red like a gem…he was approaching her father. Sierra recognized the person; it was the 13th Lance, Asclei Foresythe. Asclei was holding his blade—which was covered in blood. Sierra didn’t hesitate, she jumped out and made a vertical slash, Asclei noticed and blocked it on time. Sierra then followed with a diagonal slash, Asclei responded by ducking and countered with an upward thrust aiming at Sierra’s head. Asclei suddenly stopped when he saw a clear view of Sierra’s face. Since Asclei stopped, Sierra tried to kick Asclei to create a distance between the two. Asclei blocked it with his sword but it caused him to get pushed back leaving a trail on the ground. Sierra was about to cast an offensive spell but her father yelled, “STOP!!!!!” The shout was so loud, Sierra dropped to her knees. Her father was standing behind her. Alfred Lancer explained that Sierra misunderstood the situation, he kept on shouting earlier but the sound of the weapons colliding was too loud. Sierra responded by saying, “Eh?” in a low voice. Alfred then stated that Asclei and Lanos came to his assistance when the Aldian Knights were about to break the defenses of the hideout.

Sierra: “T-Then the blood on you blade was from…”
Asclei: “The people who wanted to kill your father!”
Sierra: “S-Sorry, with the way you were holding your sword, I easily misunderstood the situation.”
Asclei: “…Well, I’m still alive *thanks to your dad*…I guess we can leave it at that”
Sierra: “T-Thanks”
Alfred: “Sorry for the trouble my daughter has caused you”

Lanos arrived and was surprised when he saw Sierra. He then stated, “oh good, you managed to escape. I was about to ask Asclei to help rescue you but since you’re here, we are spared from doing so. Now Asclei and I can just go back and make false reports at the headquarters.” Lanos looks at the direction where Asclei was standing and was surprised.

Lanos: (looks at Asclei) Asclei!!! What in the world happened to your hair!?”
Asclei: huh? What about my........MY HAIR!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BEAUTIFUL SILKY LONG HAIR!!!!
Lanos: “Don’t worry, you can always grow it again”
Asclei: “it took me almost a year… just to have that hair…”
Sierra: (lowers her head) “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, It seems I cut it accidentally when you ducked out of the way earlier...so…u-um…I…”
Asclei: (pauses for several minutes) “never mind, I’ll just cut it short since my efforts will always go to waste.”
Lanos: “ahahaha….ha…y-yeah…you should…” (Lanos forcing a smile)
Alfred: “Ahem, anyway, you guys should go on ahead or else the headquarters would be suspicious if the two of you are nowhere to be found
especially with today’s incident.”
Lanos: “Yeah, good idea. You guys should leave as well before their reinforcements arrive”
Asclei: “I’ll ask Shanon to match up our reports later…I’ll be taking back my hair…it’d be bad if they managed to get a hold of it and find out that I
was here.”
Alfred: “Alright, I have to explains some things to my daughter as well. I’ll let you know about our status once we arrive in our other hideout.
Sierra: “I am deeply sorry for the various of things that I have troubled you; I’ll make up for it the next we see each other.”
Asclei: “y-yeah, take care then” *I just hope you don’t shave my head cleanly the next time we see each other though*
Lanos: “Laterz” (waving his hand cheerfully)

Then the two Aldian knights left the area with their loyal subordinates following them.

Ooh, nice. You really are a good drawer.

I'll give her a more thorough look-see later, but I don't see anything that needs busting from a skim.
