I strongly suspect it won't go beyond the anime but not having read the original novels I don't really know. I assume it will just have a similar timescale of the anime but will just go into more detail.

Rather unusal for Live-Action TV drama, the episodes for this are only 30 minutes in length instead of the usual 60 minutes (in practice this would mean the fansubs are 23 minutes long instead of the more usual 45 minutes for Live-Action series).

This could be interesting i loved the anime it was short but made a pretty impact and I like the novel too. Not really worried about the Live action getting beyond the 6 episodes there is plenty of material for about a 2 hour movie. I dont recognize any of the actors or actresses. Any word on a release date?

Why? The first episode has been fansubbed by SkewedS & SaiMin and the torrent is listed on AnimeSuki, Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora - Live Action.

Actually, if you read the Unaired forum description you will see that the Unaired forum is for unaired series or for series that have not been fansubbed yet. So it was the fact that the show had been fansubbed that the thread is located in the Fansubbed forum.

The website for the Hantsuki live action movie is updated. Looks not bad, even though im not a big fan of live action movies.

Heres the trailer:

I'm currently up to episode 7 in the live action TV series, and, really, it's not bad. The anime was enjoyable, if a kind of guilty pleasure - there's some dreadful melodrama in there - so comparing the versions was the initial interest.

The good - the acting isn't as distracting as I feared, and most of the players really "get" their characters. Our hero, Yuuichi, has been a bit generic and unthinking so far, and Rika has been a bit too sweet and hasn't shown enough temper. On the other hand, the nurse, Akiko, has been really good, and thankfully there hasn't been a hint yet of that dreadful sub-plot in the anime where her friend seduces Yuuichi. The side characters are getting fleshed out a bit more - particularly in the latest episode, the day out to school, which worked really well. Some of the character motivation is brought over better - the doctor's drunken outburst against Yuuichi, for example, which doesn't feel like it comes out of nowhere so much as it does in the anime.

The bad - the comedy doesn't work well at all, neither the porn collection shenanigans nor the "Zebra Mask" running gag. The budget obviously didn't stretch to much in the way of locations, or extras, and the whole thing feels a bit claustrophobic (although that fits the story, I suppose). There are a lot of pauses where characters stare meaningfully out of the window, or past each other, and things are left unspoken. For some reason, Yuuichi and Rika's "escape" to Mount Houdaiyama early in the anime is done on a pedal cycle instead of a scooter - which is so implausible as to be ridiculous - two sick people (one with a serious heart condition) attempting to cycle up a 1000m mountain?!

Maybe my standards are low, but I'm enjoying it - for what it's worth, I'd recommend the live action version as good enough in its own right to be worth watching.
