I remember reading on an early chapter of season 1 of the manga, the author saying he wanted to make R+V another "Let's be friends" story, however, it seems that times have changed since then, R+V isn't in the "Let's be friends" genre anymore.

R+V wasn't really meant to be an ecchi/harem manga/anime, it simply started as an... "unusual" romance with a tiny bit of shounen action. My theory is that when Gonzo took over the title and made it into anime, for some arbitrary reason they felt like making it 5% shounen, 10% romance and like 85% harem/ecchi. Akihisa Ikeda watched the animated version of his own work, liked the idea and significantly increased the ecchi stuff in SII of the manga O.O.

This has nothing to do with becoming friends anymore, not at all -_-'

Partly he did it already in season1 vol.10 manga where the ecchi level increased from what we see now in the anime and manga. Pretty much he wanted just an unique and different comedy action manga, but evolved to an ecchi harem due to the spin off anime which garnered interest. Though some do get turned off some DO like it and look at it as a slapstick comedy with ecchi on the side.

Hm, you mean the last couple of chapters in season one and the stuff that happens in the bathroom? Well yeah, that was very ecchi... Myself, I really don't mind it, I usually like any romance anime that doesn't piss me off or is simply dumb (ex. Zero no Tsukaima). I like R+V because Moka and the rest of the girls kick ass =).

I'm just thankful he kept the plot as riveting as it ever was in season 1. Say yay to this great mangaka for not being a sell out like *cough*kubo*cough* *cough*kishimoto*cough*, man I need some cough drops XD

The current arc has me on my toes.

I don't like neither either, except maybe for Kubo's Zombie Powder, kinda but w/e, I really don't get what you're trying to say anyways xD

So back to Haruhi Suzu... I mean, R+V, I also think Ikeda got the idea with the bat from seeing it so match in the season 1 of the anime. He liked it so much he actually made it a significant character to the actual plot, Kokoa's weapon >.>

Yeah pretty much. And Kou is cute non the less there's even a plush of him on sale...though I hate him whenever he censors stuff. But hands down another cute and unique mascot, familiar, pet, narrator and censor guy in the anime world.

Kou has so many jobs. So why doesn't he step down on censoring and just concentrate being Kokoa-sama's familiar.

Hmm...Kokoa can change him at any kind of thing at will... *insert ecchi thoughs*....*H-doujinshis*

Btw, anyone noticed that this thread is the one with most posts (1st page only) and is second only to Toradora!? This show is more popular than most people think... then again, half the posts in this thread are complaints about Kou or pantsu discussion...

well everytime that damned bat censors the goods there WILL be reactions. Also seeing when R+V gets fan subbed, more post will pop up since some guys that cannot understand Japanese will finally know what are they saying.

Good example is Lucky Star without fansubs it won't be such a hit since no one understands the jokes their pulling or what they're talking about. On raws some depend on the action..
