Of course they can't just jump off as a reflex, they need to move around and grind a bit first
Can't....move...hand...trying to move....one finger....at a time.... Wait, now that I think about, maybe she could have liked it if he quickly pulled his arm back and she'd be like "ahhh....so vigorous"

Most of the new stuff they're adding in is interesting, but I was disappointed with the changes they made to the wrist injury. I'm sorry, but catching an insulting teacher's fist while telling him not to talk smack about his sisters, injuring his hand in the process, looks really cool; hurting his wrist smacking a desk trying to convince a couple classmates to stop joking around does NOT.

The teacher's a pig, but he doesn't seem to play that big of a role in the overall story. What I think is really tragic is the way this change's Keita's apparent character. In the manga, he's indecisive, prone to complain a lot, and more than a little overwhelmed with the situations he gets into, but he's still very much a man when you get down to it, very dedicated to his family, and very much worthy of his sisters' love. If you look you can see somewhat why the girls go for him. Here, with the sorts of changes that are being made, Keita's becoming nothing more than a whining brat who doesn't know how to appreciate the love he's given; he loses his most redeeming qualities, everything that would make him worthy of a girl.
This, in turn, also demeans the girls. Before they were in love with a guy that had shown actual value. They fell in love with Keita in spite of the circumstances because of his character. Now his character stinks, and these girls seem more like mere bro-cons going after Keita on account of looks, easy access, and the fact that they could probably make him a slave without any real effort. Plot alterations, no matter what the reason may be, often change how characters appear and can damage their worth, but writers have to watch out for how damaging one character can affect others. |

It's still a fine line, though, because while the fans do mostly read this sort of thing with other things in mind than characterization, they still become attached to the characters and their situations, find things they like about one person or another, and if you destroy everything that makes a fan's favorite character his favorite, that fan's not going to be near as interested as he should be. Sure, he may keep buying for a while in hopes that things improve, but eventually he's going to go elsewhere. There's no shortage of ecchi out there, and if the viewer finds the characters of a series to be somewhat pathetic, he is more likely to start favoring the competition's works instead.

Well, keep in mind that the only way this is being sold is in a bundle with the manga itself. So you could simply see it as a premium version of the manga, rather than as a standalone product. In that sense, the characterization isn't nearly as important, because the manga itself is still the main product. The anime is like a "bonus feature". It might be a bit different if they were marketing this OVA by itself.
