They are probably only going to stick with the OVA format if the rest of the chapters are gonna be this goddamn long,is that not the reason this will be a ova in the first place?

I'm not expecting anything from the OVA's if they will be based off the manga with the new material. The latest arc is so horrible and badly thought, that I would prefer reading Medaka Box over it. The only reason I read it - it's because the chapters were released once every 3-4 days, otherwise no way I would have read it.

The Japanese volume 9 of Black Lagoon has announced a release date of the OVA, no surprise here, as 2010 with no exact release date. It will comprise the entire arc of the El Baile de la muerte. Also Seasons 1 and 2 will be released on Blu-ray on December 23rd 2009, with omake extras from each volume of BL manga animated.

Isn't that arc up to >30 chapters now? That might be worth a movie.

Considering 24 episodes took 40 chapters, the OVA will be quite long based on 30 chapters and still on going.

It's on my watch list obviously but not quite sure if I'll enjoy it.

Actually, 33 chapters.

Also, with the way things are going, the end of the arc is getting near. I won't go into details since this is the wrong thread for that, but the arc will definitely be over before the OVA is over... Hell, it might even be over before the OVA even starts.

I'm gonna watch it regardless.... though I prefer it to be a series rather than an OVA...

I just hope it's not as disappointing as the anime. I mean, it wasn't bad, but the manga simply blows it out of the water.

I'd take the anime over the manga anytime. I dropped the manga after 2 chapters.

The music fits so well with the anime and the action sequences were perfect. I would have never liked Revy if it wasn't for the anime.

yeah i reckon the anime was way better than the manga. the soundtrack they used made the whole black lagoon experience that much better.

but still the manga is pretty good.

I've always found that the anime focused too much on the action. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it really detracts from the character development and themes that make "Black Lagoon" an actual story and not just some cookie cutter girls-with-guns anime. With the manga, the themes are much more apparent since the story is more dialogue driven. For example, the anime definitely includes all the important conversations between major characters, but seems to skim over the little things that all add up.

But then again, this is the Season 3 OVA thread, not the manga or anime thread.

but just think it could of been done so much worse. at least they stayed true to the original story and the original feel of the manga just think about all the really good mangas that have been made into a anime and turned out terrible.

i just hope they stick to a similar formula that they used in the past for the OVA so it stays at the high quality past seasons have been.

Like I said, the anime isn't bad. I just feel that it didn't do as good a job of presenting the themes and other nuances as the manga.

The blu-rays are up at amazon.co.jp

http://www.amazon.co.jp/BLACK-LAGOON...6563328&sr=1-2

The first one is weirdly out of stock. A glitch I'm sure as I don't believe these are limited editions.

yeah it must be a glitch. there is no way they would make the blue-rays limited addition.

You know, you really shouldn't post links to Black Lagoon DVDs in a thread about the Black Lagoon Season 3 OVAs without specifically stating what it is.

It'll only cause confusion.
