6) .h264 raw streams, which used to work properly, now don't seem to work at all. Good going Videolan. They still work great in mplayer.

I used OSX VLC on gg's Macross 24 (which I presume is in h264) and got none of the problems mentioned, that said, it could have been a fluke. Though the seeking issues still exist, they don't affect playback, at least not on my macbook.

I wonder if VLC 0.9.3 fixed any of the problems.

From my brief personal usage, it seems to have fixed quite a bit on the OSX build. Not sure about Linux/Windows.

They also refuse to use Haali's parser because it doesn't compile on ARM.
I can understand hating libebml - in Perian it goes into an infinite loop importing your Kara no Kyoukai 1 v1, and I couldn't figure out how to fix it because all the code is C++ template nonsense and functions with weird recursion. lavf is missing still missing an API for ordered chapters, I think, but it should have everything else by now - there's more likely to be bugs on VLC's side for it.

How did Haali make a nonportable parser?

I have no idea, I know the core parser library works under both 32- and 64-bit unixes as well as on windows but the ARM stuff is just hearsay from one of the VLC guys.

I just got 0.9.3 for OS X and I've noticed some of the aforementioned pixelation after seeking around a lot, but as for jerky panning or anything like that I havnt experienced any problems.

0.9.4 released this morning. Fewer issues with blocking than before but still a couple on Huzzah's DMC7. Plays fine in Perian, so it looks like it's a VLC issue.

Lol I don't know what the heck the VLC team is up to. 0.9.4 just messed up it's ASS support. Some of the subtitles (like signs and stuff) that showed up fine in 0.9.3 no longer appear in 0.9.4

btw, shouldn't this topic be in the Playback section of the forum?

Seems like 0.9.6 also didn't improve much with h264 decoding D:. Random artifacts still pop up.

Are the artifacts really random or on chapter points?
