I need help. I am looking for an anime that is cataloged as "must see". However, I do not like anything with obnoxious characters in it with very unrealistic and "wanna be funny personalities". I feel that those characters really ruin the mood of the show.

Here is a list of anime I have watched and i consider a "must see", in no particular order, I wont list very old series and I am sure I am missing a few.

So there you have it, I pretty much like any kind of anime as long as it is a well put together one.

We seem to share some similar tastes.
I'll recommend a few I think are must - see (sorry if you've already seen them already) :

- Honey and Clover
- Fantastic Children
- Now and Then, Here and There
- The Vision of Escaflowne
- Rahxephon
- Saikano
- Gungrave
- Paranoia Agent
- Noein

to name a few.

I'll also second Mushishi, Gankutsuou and Earth Maiden Arjuna, even though Shoji Kawamori kind of brow-beats us into submission with his eco-friendly idealogy (I thought it was a little overboard at times).
