Blue Screens of Death when torrenting usually are caused by a crap network card (or its drivers). You should go buy a real one, like a 3Com. They're thrice as expensive as the cheapest ones on the market, but worth it.

If you still have Win 98, then thats part of the problem IMO. I suggest an OS upgrade. |

You shouldn't have any problems with BT when using a recently built PC - as others have mentioned - unless, perhaps, some of the components like RAM are crap. BT can stress your system a great deal, but I haven't any problems with BT on either of my Dell laptops, though.
I haven't tried using BT on my self-built Athlon 64 system yet, however, but it shouldn't have any problems... I hope. 64-bit systems should not break... please.

If you are willing to build your own then you should check out these online computer stores. The prices are relatively cheap and you can choose your own parts for your new PC depending on your budget.
www.newegg.com www.tigerdirect.com (Also has prebuillt combos, worth a look)

Tritium, not all cheap ethernet cards behave like that. Some people might have problems with the NIC you mentioned, some might not. Just buy a good 3com or something and you don't have to worry about stuff like that.
