Gungrave. Great emphasis on loyalty, trust and friendship.

Aria series. I could talk for hours about how great this is. There's very little drama, though, so be warned if that's what you're looking for.

You've perhaps already seen Higurashi, which focuses a lot on friendship, especially in the latter part of the series.

Oh man. One of my favorite anime (and IMO one of the best I've ever watched) is Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!, and it might be exactly what you're looking for. It, along with Ichigo Mashimaro, are two very enjoyable series without using romance.

I second Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and maybe recommend Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha.

Aria is heavily seconded, and while it's not as large of a focus for the majority of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, I still recommend it for also being great in other areas.

Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight is another I'll second; its main focus is on a small group of friends who bring change to a school, overcoming obstacles and criticism.

I'll add in Maria-sama ga Miteru, another slow-paced, character-driven series that focuses almost exclusively on the various relationships between its characters, mostly close friends and onee-sama types.

I'll think of more later...

Friendship is strong in Nanoha, Higurashi and Soul Eater. One Piece brings friendship to companionship and is the strongest theme of the show.

Yu-Gi-Oh first series is very focused on friendship.
Yu-Gi-Oh DM is possibly more so and is famous for Tea/Anzu's friendship speeches.

The manga-ka said about his original work that it's main theme was meant to be friendship.

Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight deserves another mention because it's that great, and I wan to bring up Ouran High School Host Club which I think does the best group-bonding I've seen in anime.
