I don't think that there was much fanservice either, refering to wikipedia's definition of fanservice...

I have come up with a list of fanservice scenes, the novel will be the guideline for plot elements.
Episode:
2: meeting Tif, Tif's hut
4: Tiff boob groping
5: Bath scene, Tabitha scene
7: siesta's seduction, Tiffania cosplaying Saito
8: Siesta hugs Louise, Tiffania hugs Saito, Girls touch Tiffania, Louise pins Saito down
10: Siesta lifting skirt
11: Dancing

this at most only sums up to approximately 0.75 episodes of fanservice. i do not think 1/12 episodes is considered as excessive fanservice, is it?
That's still 0.74 episodes more fanservice than other anime.

as compared to animes like seikirei, this is already a very small amount, could you be possibly assuming that all animes have no fanservice? lol

in any case, i don't see anything wrong with fanservice, as long as it is not excessive, which has been proven so.

You haven't proven anything. You just picked out the most standing out pieces, but on the whole the majority episodes were filled with useless (from the plot point of view) acts that lead to the fanservice rather than to the plot. Lets say episode 11 the majority part of it contained a lot of the fanservice (useless, as it gave nothing to the plot and could have been cut down) and so when the actual part of plot and the emotional scenes came they had very little impact because the majority of episode was made for the fanservice (yes the actual fanservice scene may be singular, but you have to take into account the build up of the episode and the majority of build up lead to the fanservice rather than to the plot).

Yes ZnT may have less of an actual fanservice scenes as such, when compared to the Seikirei, but as long as we talk about fanservice and the plot division where the fanservice gets more focus (in terms of build up) rather than the plot - it is still on a similar level.

The idea came from the staff. It fits into the story as Louise was uncertain if Saito had truly loved her, the episode did indirectly mention the reason why she could not use her powers, the latter.
Sure, I get that chronologically episode 12 follows episode 11, it's just that they just feel so disconnected, I felt like I'd missed something big (and actually had to go back and check). It goes straight from heroic rescue in 11 to a dream sequence for Louise that doesn't naturally follow from anything at all and introduces this entirely new crisis which is never well-explained yet somehow gets resolved in the span of 20 minutes. I was able to venture a vague guess that it was supposed to be because of her insecurity about Saito, but it sure left me wondering why that was an issue all of a sudden, since insecurity has been one of the hallmarks of her character all along and the source of joke after joke for the entire series.

It just doesn't make sense to spend several episodes building up to a big climactic rescue and then subvert your (heavily rushed) climax with an entirely new and unrelated story, all without expending any effort on resolving the conflicts from the last one. Tabitha's mother, who is really the catalyst for the entire second half of the season (or arc, or set-of-episodes maybe describes it best) gets something like 10 seconds of screen time, and nobody is even reacting to her being there. The tension between Saito & Co. and Henrietta (which I thought was great and came straight from their characters) was completely abandoned in favor of a short and clumsy fairy tale ending. The wedge they were starting to put between Louise and Henrietta over Saito was just dropped completely I guess, and now they're sisters? If the plot elements and characters they've introduced from the manga are just too complicated and intricate to explain in the span of twelve episodes, then artfully simplifying them or replacing them with something that flows better is just a part of good adaptation and writing. Chopping off all of the explanation of what they're doing in the story for the sake of making it fit is not.

And as for fanservice, I have to disagree. The show feels laden with it, and although I couldn't say how many seconds of bouncing breasts or panty shots there are per episode, I can say that it always feels like they're right around every corner. Sure, I know that's part of the genre, and I'm a long, long way from prudish about it, but whenever I feel like they're just throwing panties and boobies at me to take my mind off of weak writing, I get a little annoyed. And sure, Sekirei is way worse, but that's all it's trying to be, so I don't really compare the two.

In any case, it's not that I hate the story or anything. I like the concept and I like the characters, but season two was weak and disjointed, and although season three seemed to be picking up steam, it just sort of ended the same way, much to my disappointment.

Well, I think it's actually more along the lines that the (already poor) plot is directly RUINED due to fanservice. After seeing the end of episode 4, and subsequently, the end of season 2, you'll notice that fanservice is actually an annoying, letdown experience to some viewers rather than being fanservice.

Xhokhusmak, If by already poor plot you mean novel original plot then I have to disagree. It has weaker moments but it can be really captivating.

Anime looses it due to poor scene build up which makes emotional scenes look rather rushed and not really touching at all.

It is not a problem in the actual fanservice scenes as such. Ayu showed pretty well that there aren't THAT big of number of fanservice scenes, and he came to an conclusion that fanservice is not a problem.

And it is true fanservice scenes as such are not a problem there are more animes with far greater amount of fanservice and its more excessive. The problem is the fanservice scenes relation with the actual plot. Due to poor scene build up we actually see longer scene build ups for fanservice than for the actual important plot points.

Due to this it looks that anime is stuffed with fanservice. It is a bad script writting. Due to barely memorable plot scenes and rather contrasting fanservice (which happens due to incorrect scene build ups) it looks like fanservice dominates the anime.

And it actually does. Just not as such scenes alone but combined with a bad script writting and poor scene build ups.

It became difficult to me process why Louise lost her powers through most of the episode, and I do think that plot device was farfetch'd because the writers did not allow enough pacing to properly explained that phenomenon.

Honestly, it would have been easier to the viewers, who are not familiarized with the light novels, to understand about Louise's loss of magic if they have properly introduced in the last episode or two.

However, I do think I have a theory:
Spoiler:

If it wasn't for the fight against the Jormugant, and the three fantastic pieces of music played:
1. During the fight against the Jormugant....
2. Louise's reawakening...
3. And the epilogue.

I would have rated this episode with a lower score.

Anyways, we do have clear grasp of what Joseph is aiming for:
Spoiler:

Overall, season three ended with a strong note, and the characters have all learned from their mistakes when Louise's gets pissed.
Spoiler:

ok i have watch all of the seasons, but Louise haven't changed a bit, they only added the feelings into her character, and even then her attitude didn't change towards Saito and their relationship haven't progress, even a bit. Saito has flashes about other girls, being kissed by other girls, flirting, and half of the time doesn't know if he loves Louise... if you exclude the flash scenes when he wants to get sex with her, or when he is in the mood for love

5/10

IMO this is a solid episode. In the end, Saito escaped Louise, which makes a huge difference. All in all, the ending was more satisfying than S2's ending, but overall, S2 was better.

What I always wonder {warning rant mode} how does a guy like Siato get almost every girl in the show to fall in love with him? He's a perv. Broke. Has all of these other girls around him all the time. Not high ranked. And not expessially cute. O.k I get that he has saved a lot of these girls but they have all saved him too. I can never understand these Harems. O and I do like the show don't get me wrong.

Torri_fay_torren@hot, read novels and you will understand that Saito can be pretty cool too. Too bad that JC Staff decided that he has to be a total pervert instead.

Ya, doesn't it make you a little depresed. I feel like they almost cheepen his character some what. A little bit of pervertedness is okay, but the staff goes overboard every now and then.

So what will be the story with saito and the fairy elf on the season 4 and what about Tabitha sister going to be another story with Saito as well?
