Problem with playing mkv

I use the combined community codec pack to watch all my videos. I used to never have this problem, but since last sunday there has been a lag in the audio and subtitles of the mkv files that I am trying to play. The video also has abrupt pauses in between.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem

It sounds like you're trying to play a HD video on a machine that can't handle it. You could take a look at this thread to look for some tips on how to deal with it if that's not the case.

Or come directly to CCCP Forum for analysis.

Thanks for the replies

I have no idea what happened!!!
The mkv files were still having the same problem today morning. Just now, I replayed the mkv files before using the CCCP insurgent, and it works!!!! I have no idea why it hasn't been working for the past week O_O

i have the same problem but... iono do u think me downloading torrent might effect the lag of the video/audio? i was having the same problem a moment ago.... and also, can it also be the fansubbers fault and not mine? i think my CCCP/Zoomplayer is running smooth b/c whenever id get a audio lag i would try to watch something else to compare and it would turn out fine on my other videos.

It could be that your system is low on virtual memory. After all, matroska video files are large in size and it does require a newer computer for it to work smoothly. Or perhaps, you need to update your CCCP codecs.

For more information, check here.

You could also try the CoreAVC trial. They did tests on "other decoders" and CoreAVC and the difference was... massive. Not THAT massive though.

You can track can how your PC handles the video from CTRL + ALT + DEL and from there performance and from there CPU. If it moves at numbers of 80%, your computer can handle it. But if it stays at numbers of 90+%, hectic scenes might make it move above 100% and thus give you a slight frame skip or etc. but your computer should handle it somewhat okay. Constant 100% of course means you are above that and that your CPU is being raped. Also this is a Windows core program so you can bet it doesn't work perfectly.

Edit: Oh yeah, firewalls and torrent programs can MAYBE take a toll on your CPU thus damaging your viewing expedition.

Edit 2: Players do have troubles sometimes with different files, and your vid could stutter even if your CPU usage would be at reasonable percentages. Because I just had this problem, and on the new VLC (it has been changed a lot) the vid worked perfectly.
