Tom Hanks... eh? I didn't even watch much of Da Vinca Code. The book was good (Angles & Demons), I hope the movie does the same.

Looks interesting. I mean, it has Tom Hanks, so I'm banking on good acting at the very least. I'll keep an ear out for more news.

Despite critical reviews, I quite enjoyed The Da Vinci Code. Tom Hanks' hair in that was epic. I hope he keeps it for Angels and Demons.

I enjoyed the Da Vinci Code, be it film or book (though the book was better of course). I liked Angels & Demons too, so i guess i'll look forward to the movie.

Meh, movie wise I thought the Da Vinci Code was a letdown in many aspects. Though I'm still looking forward to the release of Angels & Demons. Personally, I thought Angels and Demons was a much better book than the Da Vinci Code. Plot-wise at least, it was more epic.

It would be nice if someone could create a manga based on Angels & Demons.

I'm surprised this thread never got a "bump" so here I am doing it instead.

So while I have never been a big fan of books and have indeed not read this one nor had a taste of the theme from Da Vinci Code, I still have to say that it was a pretty damn enjoyable movie. The theme itself was quite mysterious and the movie was simply loaded with knowledge and references to obscure ancient text (one which I think ancient religious historians or something like that would have even a hope of getting, or someone with more general knowledge than me ) but still able to retain a simple to understand (as long as you concentrate) , seemingly complex story which I thought was rather well done. The true "villain" was predictable but nonetheless the enjoyment I got from watching the movie was not lessened in anyway. The movie actually makes me want to find and read the book itself, which is quite a feat since books generally aren't my thing at all.

Hmm, my wife felt like "Angels&Demons" read like an early rough draft of the Da Vinci Code - and wasn't terribly thrilled with A&D as a result. Whatevers, probably won't go on our "to see in the theater" list.

I really enjoyed the book <3 But, with every movie, I think the books are always better~
Much more detailed...xD

I watched the movie for Da Vinci Code, but didn't get the same excitment and tension as from the book.... xD

I will still watch Angels and Demons though! Looks pretty interesting xD

I just went to see it today and I really enjoyed it.

Since I haven't read the book, I can't compare it to the movie, but just as very few anime can be as good as the manga, no one can really walk into the cinema expecting it to be better than the novel. Just enjoy it for what it is.

So, I'd say, go and see it! (If for no other reason than just to see Ewan McGregor doing a fantastic job!)

DVC movie adaptation tried to cram way too much into way too short a movie. Hopefully, since Angels and Demons is more of a visceral thriller, it'll be a better adaptation.

The movie is great for those who want a cheap 2 hour amusement ride through Rome and the Vatican.

For people excepting a good plot, try reading the book.

I remember that for the books, A&D came before DVC, but the movies seemed to have DVC first, followed by A&D. Is it correct?

Even before both books were put to celluloid, A&D was made a "prequel" to DVC.

Having read both (and figured that they maybe imperfect yet rereadable entertainment I can pick up again and again), and judging from the raves that my sister kept telling me about (and she also read the book), I'm gonna watch it after dealing with my laundry.

That is correct, A&D did come out before DVC. However as mentioned, A&D is treated as though it came out after DVC, due to the popularity (and notoriety) of the latter.

One thing really bothered me a day after I watched: owing to some plot changes in order to make the film different from the book... too many loose ends. O_o

Spoiler for Which is...?:

On the other hand, as usual Hans Zimmer has done it again with a good instrumental job.
