I am impressed with these otaku putting all these anime graphic in their car but I am disappointed that it is all moe.
Come on I want some GaoGaiGar or Gurren Lagann in there! If they had that those cars would be bad ass.

Here is an interesting article concerning itasha.

Creating a itasha using Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

http://ascii.jp/elem/000/000/217/217950/

And the result.

Some of these cars look really tight but I'd also be a bit embarrassed driving in them. I would consider doing a minor itasha job on a nice car if I get one back in Japan (S-15). As long as it wasn't too much.

Here are a few I have seen while I was in Japan last year.
First 8 photo's are from a Mobile phone. (Hence the crappy quality)
The following 10 are from a Nikon D50 DSLR)

If I do any itasha work on a future car of mine, I'd definitely avoid pictures of cute little girls. You're just asking for the police to come knocking.

You know, I used to think this kind of stuff was cool at first, but the more I look at them, the more tacky they look to me...I already think it's kind of dumb when you got some idiot slapping an entire menu of "sponsorship" stickers to their car, so it gets worse when you start delving into the full body wraps and large-scale stickers, with the profile going through the roof when you start throwing characters in the mix...

And then I realize; They're just fucking decals...

Why the hell can't someone just make a tasteful one without going overboard in the character advertisement the people from ISS could see?

My next car is going to be a LanEvo, possibly an VIII or a IX and the last thing I'd do to it would slander it with images of my favourite anime characters...

The most I'd probably do to it with decals would either be some Ralliart decals on the the front windhshield and behind the front wheel wells and probably a "EMPEROR" sticker on the back window for Initial D nostalgia... =D

Although most jeepney owners and sticker designers don't know the word "itasha", this link below is close enough to the description:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrecawagas/166495612/ (note: Flickr can't allow image leech)
Quote:
Most of the art is done through the use of colored plastic stickers, available in 6" wide rolls, costing P35 (72 US cents) per foot, an average jeepney using between 150 to 220 feet, painstakingly and economically cut into design and seamlessly applied to the outside metal work, the labor cost ranging from P2,500 to P3,500 (about US$51 to US$71).

Nice. Do post pics when you get it. I'm not a big Evo fan, but if IX is the one I'm thinking of, it's a nice looking car.

Or you can deck your car out like Tommi Mäkinen's for a more proper homage...

http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/0...-event-digest/ (sidebars are NSFW)

The Sankaku had a load more there, but damn, can't they add a little more variety apart from the familiar ones?

It'll be lot more interesting if we peer under the hood, see if it's carrying some Mugen or Spoon parts.

The Shock of the Lightning?

Is that girl on the car Tama-nee?? It doesn't look like her, yet I am certain that is her.

Well, you're right on mark, as I gave the pic a closer look then made a match with the corresponding hair style and color. Guessing that the car's a great drifting Silvia.

Without a Garage, you're probably asking for trouble, these are basicly 'peacock' cars, just to show off

1 thing remains true, if you have the graphics, but not the performance, you're riding around in a cartoon ^^

Personally, I love these kind of cars
