Romance in Gundam 00

well i guess i don't really care who setsuna get together with(although i might change my mind after watching the movie, who knows) but i am extremely interested in knowing whats gonna happen to lyle. i mean, what he said at anew's grave was extremely sweet. reminds me of the guy in gsd, whose wife died in gs when both of them where fighting kira in the desert. until gsd he remains loyal to his wife. wonder if anew will come back to life? or will lyle die? he did say 'wait for me at the other side

@brightman: it's not that it's impossible that we'll find Setsuna and Feldt as a couple in the movie, after the timeskip, on the contrary, it's probably what's exactly in front of us, or at least, they'll get together during the movie - otherwise I see no other reason for the staff to develop it this way, it's just that I feel that they could have done a lot better with this pairing than a lastminute!romance.

And yes, Setsuna changed from s1 to s2, but Feldt's feelings for him changed *maybe* in the 4 months skip, it seems, since Feldt was in love with Neil in s1, and she was not getting over him after four years, judging from her reaction to Lyle's presence.
What was the point of that if they wanted her to be in love with Setsuna in the end?
They could have used Lyle's presence in another way, to show that she was starting to look elsewhere, if this is what they have in mind from the beginning.

I don't know, I just can think of a thousand ways to make the Feldt-> Setsuna at least believable, altering just minimal scenes, but from the beginning of the series, not just adding one single scene in the last three episode.

bah, nevermind me, I'm just bitter that my OTP was killedX2 by the staff, even though I know that for her, it is better this way ... oh well, assuming that Setsuna won't be killed in the movie !

..and now that I think about it, Setsuna'd better start to run fast, since everyone that grew closer to Feldt has never been that lucky! =P

I agree that Setsuna strikes me more like the bachelor type, btw..

I was loling at the part everyone is saying the names of their loved ones and then Setsuna is like "gundam" and Tieres is like "Veda."
But my #1 is Soran and Marina.

I also think Feldt needs someone to love her, I mean she seems to be one of the most saddest chacracters throughout the series and it soo upsetting. Plus, Neil Dylandy has Anew even though she's dead and when he kissed Feldt in ep.4 he did that to show her that he isn't Lockon.

^agreed, Feldt, she deserve someone love her, Setsuna? Got a chance develop, got give flower to setsuna lol (one sided most probably, since Setsuna quite dumb -.-', but there still a chance in future).

I just prefer Marina because of the development there. Feldt isn't bad but it really does come off as a last second thing.

I don't think it's so much about the age gaps, I think it's more like the two barely spends anytime together to make anything happen Well...maybe there's a chance that they'll hook up via video conferencing but in the mean time Setsuna can hook up with a certain pink haired hottie XD

I don't think love should be limited by age, that's ridiculous. I mean to a certain extent it can be wrong, but if the person is old enough to understand love and live life on their own, they shouldn't be forced not to love someone just because that someone is older.

Feldt + Setsuna is silly, considering there's no real basis to it. "LOL GUYS SHE GAVE HIM A FLOWER" doesn't justify anything. Good friends have sentimental talks and give gifts to one another, especially if one of those friends is going off to war. At least Marina + Setsuna had some development. Personally I don't care, shipping is yet another thing I find silly. Discussion on the other hand is nice.

What I found ironic? That flower that Feldt gave Setsuna?

It looked identical to the flower that popped up between Setsuna and Marina in all of the previous openings. I'm sure it wasn't an accident. On the other hand, it flew out of his cockpit into outer space, so if the flower is symbolic for anything like love, it's certainly not looking good for Setsuna.

Like I said though, I can't see Setsuna in any relationship any time soon. I don't have any issues with age gaps, in this regard I wholly agree with CC. But Setsuna getting into a relationship? I foresee more comedy than anything.

I'm more Neil x Feldt, Setsuna x Gundam and Marina x her People.

Its funny that these days shipping is like a requirement. Really? Do anyone really have to ship in a show? Is it all that necessary?

You know, some characters are just asexual, people need to just deal with it.

On the other hand, I attempted my first ship ever last year, and it was a very tiring experience. I doubt I would get into any more, anytime soon.

Personally, while I like particular ships in series, Gundam has rarely been one such show. Really, the only Gundams that I ever cared about ships in is G-Gundam and Gundam SEED. It was never a real requirement for me to enjoy the show in any of the other series.

I don't ship. Well, maybe I do but hardly to the point of... considering it better than others preferences? I just stated them as "pairings" I like, and whose further/fan development I'd pay attention to. Nah, scratch that, I'll take any form of development around my favourite characters, save for maybe like... something kinky involving Lockon and Haro 'cause... yeah. IMO, But I wouldn't go defending/disproving any possible relationship seriously because in the end... with the exception of a few, they're all fan-made, and only the directors really knew what they had in mind.

Besides, Setsuna x Gundam and Marina x her people is hardly a "sexual" combination (unless, again...). It's more like, something they devote their energy and time to.

Not necessarily. One of the final scenes shows that it somehow miraculously survived entering the atmosphere and was swarming all over a field. It even showed the container that the flower was in. That must be one hell of a indestructible container to do that.

More like an indestructible flower. First survive extreme hots/colds of outer space, and then go through the temperatures and speeds of atmospheric re-entry?

But, I missed that part. So that makes his love prospects.... very very good?

ETA: Unless it just represent his general "feelings" for the world, in which case the symbolism totally fits.
