good sports anime/manga

Does anyone know of any good sports anime or manga?

Some ones that I've already seen:

Air Gear
Prince of Tennis
Slam Dunk

Check here for all sports-related anime.

As for suggestions:

Air Gear <=> Eureka Seven
Prince of Tennis <=> Ace o Nerae!
Slam Dunk <=> Buzzer Beater

Thanks, though these suggestions look interesting, I'm looking for something with a little more action, along the lines of Slam Dunk. Are any of the selections above like that?

huh? sports with action? then, probably Hajime No Ippo would fit you, since it's about boxing.
You can also try Eyeshield 21. it's about american football, so there's some action there too.

Sorry, looks like Captain Tsubasa wasn't what I had in mind. I'm looking for something with a newer style of animation than Tsubasa. Overall, I kinda want something similar to Slam Dunk (something a little Shonen-esque).

What you want is Major, yes it starts when he's 6 years old, but thats only for a few episodes and mainly to provide backstory . By the 4th season the main character (Goro) is out of highschool.

Attack No.1 is probably the most well known volleyball title, but your description of the plot does not appear to fit exactly. Do you remember any characters?

Eyeshield 21!!! My favorite! Read the manga, don't watch the anime though. It's one of my favorite mangas ever and I don't even like sports manga. I think more people need to read it because it's underrated

You may be thinking of Silver, whose main character was Aoba Toono. She was a short defensive specialist, or Libero, who was the school's volleyball ace and dreamed to one day play in the Olympics but had her career halted due to a serious knee injury. While rehabilitating her knee, she meets a strange classmate, Gin Yamada, who is fascinated with Aoba and wants to play volleyball with her despite her condition.

If that is the manga you are thinking about, it sadly got canceled after Vol 2...I really enjoyed Vol 1 and do not think Vol 2 has ever been translated.
