Seriously though, that has to be the most disgraceful scene in the history of modern presidential politics...That's the legacy of Bush..The Prez that had to dodge not one, but two dusty Rockports while being the leader of the freeworld..That's the perfect cherry on top for the worst president ever...It'd be truly sad if it wasn't so funny...
Bad, but not the worst, not even close.

now see I have nothing against Bush, I don't mind tha guy altho I can see why people do have something agianst him.
Politics for the most part, I try to avoid.

but I do have to say this, this is one of the best bits of tv entertainment all year theres something immensely funny about it.

To continue off that...

Iraq rally for Bush shoe attacker
Quote:
Thousands of Iraqis have demanded the release of a local TV reporter who threw his shoes at US President George W Bush at a Baghdad news conference.

Crowds gathered in Baghdad's Sadr City district, calling for "hero" Muntadar al-Zaidi to be freed from custody.
I for one was also kinda surprised at the lack of security, if not the Iraqi security than the supposed American ones? What happened to taking a bullet for the president thing? :\
While it's amusing, i wonder if some of that mob will simply transfer their hatred onto Obama. Anyone who's 'tainted' with America = evil.
Sure they now have the rights for 'freedom of expression', but please, grow up a little? :\
(Though, i have seen worse with some of the asian politicians as mentioned before earlier)

I think the worst we're used to is verbal insults, paper throwing and having a woman keep the boys in line whenever they get out of hand

As some analysts call it, the "Taiwan" stage of democracy.

The list goes like this:

Hong Kong stage (where democracy exists, but limited hugely)
Taiwan/Thailand (new democracy)
American/Canadian (active democracy)
Singapore (where there is active debate, but little else - usually when people turn disinterested in politics)
Japanese stage, where people can't be bothered about politics.

Do you want people to remove their shoes from now on when attending meetings?

Not a bad idea; they do that in Japan sometimes. Usually the traditional ones.

I did say modern day, but that aside I can't think of anything more shameful than the President of the United States having to dodge 2 size-Thirteens during a press conference...I think nearly being assassinated is better because atleast the goal is to kill...This was like Bill Gates getting a pie in his face...The goal was or ultimately is humiliation...Getting hit by the shoe or having to SSJ-dodge a shoe both accomplish the same goal...Making the president look like a common fool (Not that we haven't all figured that out), but to see it in action is poetic in itself...No one would ever throw a shoe at the president of my United States, atleast that's what I thought until yesterday...

Agreed, maybe it's all the hollywood movies where i naturally thought that someone would have stepped in to Bush's side and made him stay down, but technically he does hold the position of 'the worlds most powerful man' - Leaders of powerful countries usually remain untouched or have enough protection to tackle down pple who try.
It's like trying to think the same of the leader of Russia or N.Korea, wasn't a concievable thought until yesterday.
Is it cause it's post election now, that Bush is fair game?

^ Who knows? It's just as sad as it is funny...Bush has been fair game since he won the election in 2000...With only having a month left in office, this scene really puts a period on his legacy...He never was the right guy for this job, and he never will be...

No, but they should have been quicker to tackle the guy, and secret service should have been near the president.

Again, i just hope that its better for Obama and people will not transfer hatred to him.

They had checked for weapons or any harmful things that could hurt or injure GWB. Apparently, they never thought of people using shoes for weapons..

I was watching MSNBC earlier today, and they had kept playing this video of the Iraqi reporter throwing the shoes at the president. Not to mention, they had shown a short clip of a crowd following after the fallen head of the Saddam Hussein statue, and they were beating the head of the statue with their shoes.

Hah, I found this jade on youtube:

Quote:

CIA announced that the shoes was made in Iran, smuggled to Iraq through Syrian Border, the shoes had a nuclear warhead, and the leather is made in Pakistan from an Indian Cow. The incident proves that Iraq did have a weapons of mass destruction.
So true! Let's bomb Iran. NOWWW!

What they don't tell you is that the motherfucker was then dragged out and beaten like a redheaded stepchild until he wept like a girl that just had candy taken from her.

Frankly, I think he should have been shot for good measure.

Don't want to sound rude, but i actually laughed for like 10 minutes cause for some reason i find that really amusing. Then when i watched again, i noticed i wasn't the only one laughing. He was laughing too! He was like, " Nice one, dude". Perhaps he wasn't laughing, but i am sure he was smiling
