Looks like I.G. is back in the highly symbolic, intellectually deep mode they were in with Ghost Hound.

That's such a contrast to your name, isn't it?

I'm loving everything about this anime, the backing music seems a little different from Kawai's usual stuff, it doesn't sound as 'big' or maybe not as majestic as some of his other pieces.

I want to take a closer look at 'Akira's closet, see if I can identify the firearms he had.
By the way, when Saki rings the doorbell, is he holding a Smith & Wesson Model 29 (i.e. the Dirty Harry gun) behind his back?

Hmmm. Maybe using a white threadball attached to a motor for the "moving" effect? And how do you attach the motor/threadball so it doesn't show? The gun and the PDA/Cellphone should be easy enough.

Whoa. First off, this has to be the best anime with regards to accurate use of English (it wasn't Engrish *shock*) and real life American locations (I've been to DC before).

This looks like its gonna be a really good series. I don't really know what its about and the picture of AniDB is horrible since it makes you think its about a guy and a little girl from the looks of the picture.

+1 for Bourne reference.

I'm a little disapointed that gg isn't planning on subbing the rest of the series since they are a decent group.

And travel tip: don't leave your wallet and Passport in a coat pocket - keep it on your body.

Frostii are confirmed to be picking this up, no worries.

That was indeed the best use of English I've seen in a TV anime. They surely used native speakers, and they even got the "walk left, stand right" sign correct (it's the opposite in Japan). Production values were superb, as you would expect from I.G. But I must confess to being a bit disappointed in the story itself. It's an intriguing premise but the execution felt too clever by half to me - the writing too self-consciously proud of how smart it was. The resulting story left me interested but not really involved. With as much gold as there is to mine here, especially given Production I.G.'s involvement, I'll surely give it ample time to warm up.

With Eden and Basara, this season looks to be a winner for I.G. Massive production value all around.

It took me a little getting used to, but Chika Umino + Production I.G. somehow makes sense.

The OP is pretty impressive, but the ED is a real tour de force.

Hm. Holy crap, ya know how I said that I was down in DC last weekend at the Cherry Blossom festival? I bought Mountain Dew from the CVS that's on the street corner where the guy gives his pants away for free. I know that's not particularly relevant to discussing the story or whatever, but it's a fun fact.

We didn't take off our pants, but our friend sat on the corner looking like a hobo while some other friends ran up behind us and scared us after we came outta the store..

Just why exactly was that guy so happy to give away his pants, anyway?

According to one of the ANN reviewers (who are all giving this 4.5/5), so take it with a handful of salt, it's a reference to one politician who is gay or a pedo, something like that.

Uh, I don't think that was in the ANN review (and I saw at least one review give it a 5), I think you read it here.

Wow, had a lot of fun watching ep. 1. I never felt this way about watching any anime. It's usually I like it or I don't.

Hardly as interesting as Azure_Peregrine's story about having been on that very streetcorner, but in the interests of further knowledge, here is the Wikipedia page about that congressman and the scandal. And here's a page about another congressman's scandal.

Holy shit, the English is immaculate. Crazy. Also, what the hell is with all these sex-crazy Americans?

Jason Bourne, Taxi Driver, De Niro. This is like...everything done right. I'm not even done with the episode yet.

I feel like everybody's having a great time at a party and I wasn't invited. Maybe I need to get a little drunk and watch it again.
