Can't wait for the subs. Molenir, can you understand Nippongo? I just think that's great. Better start to study it myself.

Had a lot of fun watching this episode. Pace has slowed down a bit, meaning the episode was able to touch on most of the important scenes in this timeframe.
Spoiler for Episode 3:

Do I understand Japanese? To be honest, yes and no. I catch about 1/3rd of what is being said. If I watch it again, depending on the show, the dialog etc, I can catch better then half of what they're saying, but I still end up missing a bunch. Thats why I look forward to the subs. And why I'm still studying Japanese.

Will Touko every become more likeable?

Spoiler for Touko:

Yumi and company are always fun to watch. I just wish that they will have a lot more Sachiko interaction. Her "guest" appearances lately makes it a little depressing, since I want to see more of her...

In my words, this time it's well-paced and written like it's out of a Jane Austen novel. Simply good, with some generous amounts of character focus...

Except for the tea party, which seems to have been downplayed. Looks like I have to visit Okazu again to supply the missing pieces of the puzzle.

Yeah I finally understood what was said. Everyone's character changes, slow but noticeable changes. Anyway Yumi, Yoshino and Shimako never grew. LOL At least a little taller (few inches) or so to impose an Onee-sama image. Sometimes I still see them as first years.

I can sympathize with Touko's irritability, personally. She didn't use to be like that. At the beginning of the school year, she was caring and, yes, mischievous and a busybody. But she didn't lash out. And while she had a part in Yumi and Sachiko's falling out, it was involuntary. It stemmed more from the pair's inability to communicate than anything else. And she did try to look out for Noriko and even for Yumi - though she was tsundere about the latter.

But recently... She had to face a lot of pressure. In her theater club, where her talents landed her lots of expectations and jealousy. And among the first years, where her relationship with Yumi also landed her with lots of expectations and jealousy.

Her comments about Kanako also hint of troubles at home (the same as Sachiko's? Maybe all men in that damn family are the same...), but unlike Kanako, she didn't use that as an excuse to be a jerk, so she had no outlet.

Damn, I was really hoping for a formal soeur audition, not some lame tea party. I can just picture Yoshino's face when she loudly describes the faults of the candidates.

We'll see how "lame" the tea party is. Tea parties can be very intense.

I hope we see more Kanako, since she's played by Koshimizu Ami. Seemed sudden to me, too, as strong as the circumstances were.

I saw Touko becoming less tsuntsun in the last episode, but she had a relapse. We all know where this is headed, however. I think.

Anh_Minh must remember things better than I do, but I still feel Touko is unnecessarily harsh. I am only just beginning to feel sympathy, as I begin to see her insecurity, which I had never realized before. EDIT: I just reread Anh_Minh's post, and thought about it a bit, and I think I see now. Good observations. I'm still quite leery of Touko, but Yumi has become strong enough to handle her now.

Personally, I've always liked Mami. But I guess she's a second year.

The irony of choosing Touko will be Yumi pulling in the person she thought was her rival for Sachiko, as well as Yumi helping perpetuate the rule of the wealthy aristocracy in the school.

The opening is starting to grow on me. How I like it now. Another lovely episode. It pains me, though, to wait another week for Marimite goodness .

Cool. Good for you . I'm only starting to study, myself. But just focusing on grammar for now.

I like Touko-chan.

As Anh minh said, Touko was inadvertently involved in the tension between Yumi and Sachiko. I think that while she enjoyed teasing Yumi a bit, I don't think she anticipated the shock to the relationship. In fact remembering, she seemed very surprised, and disappointed in Yumi because of the misunderstanding, and how it affected Sachiko. And Touko has born the blame for that from the other 1st years as well. That and the Jealousies mean she is under a huge amount of pressure.

When Touko was first introduced, and even through the end of the second season, I really didn't like her. It was only at the end of season 3, when I went back and watched the whole show again, that I started to understand and see the subtleties in Touko's character. Having seen that, I'm really starting to like her. In fact she is now one of my favorite characters.

For one thing, I think it's been made pretty obvious who Yumi's sister's going to be. With how much she appears in the closing credits next to her, gazing at her, either it'll be her or they'll develop a relationship that will form a major point of conflict with the actual sister.
Honestly, I think Yumi's a little cold to be so very adverse to the idea, especially accusing her sister of not understanding her feelings. I mean, as I recall, her Onee-sama hadn't wanted to choose a sister either, but instead had done so at first out of desperation and later in response to growing bonds. Knowing how much she loved her own Onee-sama, and how much Yumi enriched her life once she accepted the rosary, it's only natural for her to want to push Yumi past the initial hesitation and anxiety.
