The son looks into the mirror, and sees his father, even when the sire has long passed beyond the reach of time and memory.

I can't remember where I read that line, but I think it fits.

Well...Tomoya has friends still...even if several of them are distant from time to time. He's got his job (whoopie)...he's got probably the most awesome in-laws in the universe....and a daughter. One of these things will bring him out of his faded depressing world like Nagisa did eventually.

It is the parallel world thing that is most bothersome in relation to this situation. I think I know what it is and why it is...but that still doesn't mean I can be worried because of it.

EDIT:
Slightly off topic: One thought considering Tomoya's friends...I just wondered if we'll ever see Mei again. With all the time skipping, she should be in high school or something now.

I actually feel that Reckoner is being rational about his argument, once you factor in the case of inherent bias as well as the opinionated stance that's inherent with all arguments.

My own bias is that the matter of childbirth ends with how that the responsibilities are squarely on Tomoya and Nagisa 's shoulders wise and that Nagisa paid the price of life for that decision. No amount of second-guessing will yield to much and one can only provide advice and requested assistance on that matter.

I cannot bring myself to belittle or to question the motives of an individual that has paid with their life of their in terms of their conviction and as such, despite whatever misgivings I may have over their choices, I will acknowledge their choices with due respect, and only evaluate the validity of those choices in any reflection on the matter.

With this scenario ones that acted maturely and within scope would be Akio and Sanae. They truly provided the support for the decisions, being selfish or not, that their daughter committed herself to despite offering their opinions and doing what they can to mitigate whatever risks that are evident with the endeavor of childbirth.

I was greatly touched when I saw how Akio can see beyond merely his child's plight and his own sense of connection with how the city's state may be connected with his child, yet not letting such sentiments cloud his rational sense, just as I am touched about how much faith Sanae has placed in the new couple, and would not accept the two fall into the cycle of second-guessing themselves. This to me is what maturity amounts to.

I also wish to reiterate hands off to any personal attack. It accomplishes nothing and is actually insulting to one's own intellect to go that path.

The world turns, the seasons change, a circle is completed.

The forum will be an interesting place, methinks for a few episodes, judging the response to this one.

Well his most awesome in-laws must be hurting too. I'm sure they won't resent Tomoya(Well it's already been said they wouldn't) but I wonder how there relationship will become. Nagisa was Sanae's and Akio's dream after all. Will they have time to help Tomoya overcome his problems?

The theme of many stories. And a good one too.

And someone flips the X and Y chromosomes around. Hilarity ensues.

I kid, I kid. Are we going to see a significant time skip with the next episode though? People are complaining about KyoAni's pacing for AS, and it might be a sticking point AGAIN next week.

Yeah the pacing for Clannad overall could be better. I mean they skipped Akio's, Sanae's, and glanced over the rest of Yuusuke's route. I hope they make good use of the remaning episodes.

The tempo of Clannad runs at the pace from slice to life to several months from segment to segment. I suppose this is about as extreme in variation as things get. All I can say is that the resonance cascade from this episode will be something to watch for really. A little bit of a shame that I am under publication ban of what may be coming.

Should be a BIG timeskip, yeah.

In the game, it just fades out, and then flashes forward.

If there's going to be any meaningful interaction between Ushio and the rest of the cast, then a time skip is pretty much required. It may not be the upcoming episode though.

In that case, it'll be jarring to show Ushio together with the rest of Tomoya's friends. It would be weird, for example, seeing a 22-year old Kotomi, with several doctorates, STILL with her high school hairdo.

Well...if it was Kotomi...I don't think I'd care if her hairstyle was from five years ago.

I do wonder how she was able to interact with all those Americans when she had trouble interacting with Japanese people.

If it's Kotomi-chan she probably wouldn't change her hair-do, and I wouldn't mind either. Hmm there might be a bit more Kyou and possibly Ryou, but I bet Tomoyo would be off in some uber college.

That would be weird seeing some of the older cast making re- apperances . I wonder what they will make them look like. I demand that they make a Love and Spanner track too >.> Seriously like....u_u

Nagisa certainly lost the rounded look she had in the first season. The thing is, if they don't modify how the other characters look with relation to their age, well, their maturity will have to be expressed through other means.

I don't think they'll look EXACTLY the same. It might have been just me, but when Youhei and the Fujibayashi siblings appeared they did seem a little older. Oh yeah and I forgot about Fuuko, she's been sleeping for an awfully long time.
