As Luffy was walking slowly up the stairs, I sorta thought of Rogers and how he slowly walked up the stairs to be executed.

Also, one thing I love about One Piece are the eyes. Not sure why, but when someone gets pissed off in OnePice, and their eyes change color and shape.. it is.. awesome.

I just realized something though. Even with the flow of things, and how badly I want to see 397, I have a feeling it is going to be the same as 396. In that, it will leave us with the desire to see the next one even more.

episodes like 396 are what make OP the top dog in shonen anime, brutally satisfying end (in terms of violence, justice and character development - luffy aint nutting to be F*** with )

.....and it wasnt even a main fight, just the calm before the storm.

This. I too thought it was the perfect way to animate that punch. Luffy rocks...one of the best anime chars ever (as basic as he is!)

Just caught up on 395 and 396... Was a bit disappointed they didn't put the "could we maybe buy her as well" gag (Sanji, about the dancing girl) in 395. :P As for 396, the tenryuubito punch didn't have quite the impact from the manga for me. I wish they had incorporated that panel and angle in the animation somewhere. The drawing style seemed a bit off too.

I think they didn't want to ruin the moment coming after by putting a comedy scene there.

Well I think it is a god thing. I mean comedy is throughout the majority of OP, but because of the rarity of those intense, serious moments. When they occur, it is all that more epic. Like the anime Gintama, most of it is comedy, but there are a few episodes when it is serious and you can almost get goosebumps.

Serious and pissed off Luffy ftw!!

That gag would be anime only...

It might be serious now, but I wouldn't expect it to stay that all the time in the next ep. It's OP after all, and unlike other anime/manga, "small" doze of humor won't ruin the mood in most cases XD

Wow they changed the Gold Roger opening! That was interesting timing. The episode itself was dragged out, but getting to see Rayleigh at the end was cool.

The new episode was pretty wild. I do like the touch of showing everyone's wanted poster.

I must of watched just those few moments that Luffy decked that bastard at least six times. I love those moments when Luffy just goes crazy like that. I've been looking forward to that moment as soon as I saw the manga. I also loved his casual apology to the crew after he hit him. Though when Luffy hit Bellamy he drew blood.

The episode did seem dragged out. They really extended the fight in the auction house. Showing everyone doing much more, including Nami. They really seem to be adjusting the episodes so that one chapter will equal to one episode.

The manga version of Usopp landing on the old guy's head was more comical in the manga version. It almost seemed censored in the anime. They did censor out Law's giving Kidd the finger scene. It's ironic in a way. They weren't too shy about showing every little curve of Nami's body in the Thriller Bark arc, but they wont show the middle finger.
Spoiler:

The next two episode should be pretty sweet. We will finally get to see Law and Kidd fight. The fight should just begin at the end of next week's episode and finish at the beginning of the week after.

The only person that used Haki there was Rayleigh.

OMG, One Piece right now is better than Bleach/Naruto HANDS DOWN.

I would have to agree. Originally it was the other way around for me. But for some reason, I am not too happy with Bleach atm and OnePiece keeps making me wanting more.

Yeah, I am just guessing but I don't think Luffy can use it, even if he could, I don't think it would be at the level to knock someone out.

I do love the expressions on all the pirates faces when he knocked everyone out. Definitely a "wtf" moment.

Anime watcher huh? its not that much of a spoiler since more than 80% of all anime and manga readers know it.
