Well you can actually replace the first Saga from Vegeta to the Saiyan Saga considering it's the introduction to the Saiyan race. Those 4 arcs do make sense though and it's simple.

I think part of the disadvantage had to do with it being a really dragged out filler. You gotta love how the 5 minutes is like 10 episodes though, i just love it

just imagine if something like that happened in Death Note, 40 second death = 3 episodes, "OMG YOU NOT DEAD YET? JUSTICE IS RUINED, I SHOULDA PUT 'KILL HIM NOW' "

Yeah, i mean, it's not like there's someone who doesn't know about the Freeza and Goku's fight, hehe.

I had the exact same question as you before. This is Dragon Ball, after all. Pretty much everyone has seen this series already. I even talked to a moderator about refraining from using spoiler tags since this is such an old series, and he/she even agreed with me. But, in that very low percentage of people who may have not seen this series yet, I was advised (like everyone else) to use spoiler tags since it doesn't do any harm and to be on the safe side.

So there is no definite answer for the origins of Trunks sword...or are the all speculations at best?

There is indeed no answer for the origins of Trunks' sword. If anything, movie 13 can be used to explain how he acquired it, but the movies aren't canon so it really boils down to speculations or assumptions.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. The biggest point of that movie was telling the audience of how Trunks acquired his sword. This movie was, at most, canon. Come to think of it, almost all movies are canon...they just don't fit with the storyline.

They aren't canon though, since they are neither from the manga nor are they able to fit in the manga.

Spoiler for Trunks and Movie 13 spoilers? Maybe?:

Ugh, I got so confused at the Buu Arc. I just wanted that pink piece of gum to go away already. Let's see there was:
Fat Buu or whatever his name was, that had a kid-like nature.
Kid Buu?
What other Buus are there? LOL.

There was "Majin Buu", which was basically the first Fat Buu.
There was Fat, or Good Buu. This was "Majin Buu" after splitting.
There was Evil Buu, who splitted off from Good Buu.
There was Super Buu, who was Evil Buu after eatting / absorbing Good Buu.
And then there was Kid Buu, who was somehow Evil Buu but with more of the goodness removed from him after Good Buu was removed.

And then there was Uub.
