Communication Break Dance - Boss Rush

Anybody knows anything about this internet meme?

It's basically a video macro based on a song called "Communication Break Dance". After a few search i learned that it's performed by Superbutterdog but i have never heard it before, is that a famous group in Japan? :3

It looks like it has something to do with a "boss rush" or something, most videos have the katakana for "rush" (rasshu) in the title.

Anyway all of these videos follow the same patterns and the same animations with just a few minor differences. It always starts with a characters that dances in a funny a way, then there's the intermission character that plays a piano (or another instrument). Then there are different episodes each one showing two characters that have funny interactions. After each episode one of the characters shows up during the chorus and makes a funny 2 frame animated dance. There's more than this but i'll let you see with your own eyes.

There are adaptions of this video for many popular anime and game series.

I don't really get what is this all about, and i can't even read the various japanese sentences that appear during the videos, but i can't help but laughing anyway, it's addictive!

I'd like to know who started this all, and since the animations are the same i'd like to know which one is the original. If you know anything please tell me!
Nico nico douga is obviously the place where all of this started however there are a lot of them on youtube:

Since you mentioned that it's niconico related, then it's better to put this in the niconico thread
Over there, more fans of the website may have answers for you.

The strange thing is although most of these videos mention niconico on their description it's a lot easier to find them on youtube than niconico itself... unless i'm doing something wrong on my searches in niconico ;
