Is it? I heard so many positive thing about that one. Well, I may be biased here, because all of that come from SRW forum, and people there are more open minded than any place I have come.

Yes, I actually heard more positive feedback from Shin Jeeg than anything. People just don't get the old school style ownage.

And so goes for Daikumaryu Gaiking, which along with Shin Jeeg, made a super quick entry into SRWK.

They're going to be loved.

Not Nagai. He's been recycling all his ideas over the years, way before the SRW saga. The only decent "reimagining" (Mazin Saga) didn't get an anime and it's incomplete.

WEll I've seen the original series and the new one, and Shin Jeeg has terrible animation and the story is all over the place, IMO.

In fact it's not. From what I see, I think it'll be the adaptation of the first half of Nagai's manga, which is very different from the anime. Only the first half though, as back then the manga was dropped from the magazine and ended into a child magazine, therefore the mood changed completely.

I'm surprised no one on this thread has brought up the importance of THE GREAT IMAGAWA directing this.

I mean, come on, it's IMAGAWA for chists sake.
The man's a legend in re-imagining classic robot shows. MASSIVE fan favorite.
Giant Robo OVA is still one of the top favorite robot anime among millions of fans.

His only problem is the fact that he's such a perfectionist, that he tends to over-spend on budget, and sometimes gets kicked off the project as a result.

One warning though, he's also considered a "classic-crusher".
He completely reinvents the stories, rather than keeping it the same.
His works are usually amazing, but not at all "true to the original". It becomes completely his version.
(Like turning Giant Robot into a Yokoyama-all-star anime, and turning Gundam into a Super Robot show)

He did just three episodes of Shin (as in "true",not the "new" version) Getter. And I knew, but I didn't bring it up because I'm not that a fan of his works. Giant Robo completely falls in the last two episodes, and the Shin Getter espisodes he directed, while good, are also annoying in some parts. I'm using the wait and see approach for this one.

Being more on old-school, I'm sold, especially that it could look better when digitally restored. So we should better credit SRW for keeping classic mecha alive and well even in this century.

If it comes out, I'll be seeing old-time fans (some of which now have families of their own) get on a heated yet lively debate on weaponry and armor.

Hmmm... Aphrodite A with boob weaponry -- the OMS -- would also be very interesting to witness once more in combat.

The Giant Robo OVA is hands down one of the greatest creations by mankind. It hurts just to think there are still many people out there that haven't experienced the epic for themselves.

If you haven't out there, please change that as soon as possible.

What are the odds of Mazinkaiser,Grendizer or even Great Mazinger appearing?

Great Mazinger is fairly likely, I think, but only at the end at best. I think there is a possiblity they will make a Great-Hen after this, so it's make sense to introduce it beforehand.

Grendizer and Mazinkaiser, I'm not too sure about.
