Question Film Of The Year?

Right, so the end of 2008 is very close and I started to think about which movie was the best this year. Personally, I think it was The Dark Knight (not a very original choice, I know) but if anyone wants to post their thoughts and favourites about this year's finest, then do it here

I could jump on the wagon and say "The Dark Knight."

But much as I loved and respected Mr Ledger's Final Movie, I'd have to say Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

Either The Dark Knight or No Country for Old Men. Well, I'm not sure whether the latter is a legitimate contender since I'm unsure what year to assign it to. In the UK it was released early 2008 (18th January) but in the US it was shown late 2007 (November/December). However, according to IMDB the majority of world had to wait until 2008 to see it so it's fairplay in my book.

Both were great, but Batman was better in my opinion. The tagline of one of the movie's posters was "welcome to a world without rules" and it couldn't be more fitting. Nolan's vision was no-holds-barred and all the better for it. The movie was dark and complex, and never shied away from collateral damage. Despite the lack of foul language, how the movie slipped by with a PG-13 is beyond me. Ledger was miles ahead and away from Jack Nicholson's take on the Joker, if you ask me. Jack's fanboys won't agree of course.

No Country For Old Men was last year. I can't remember if There Will Be Blood was last year or this year, but if it's this year, then there's no contest, it's easily the year's best film. But I'm pretty sure it was from last year.

Hmm... I just wrote a list of really good films from recent memory but then had to delete it when I realized that every single one of them, with the exception of The Dark Knight, was in fact from 2007, not 2008, which kinda indicates that it's been a bit of dearth year. There looks to be a few really good films coming soon or recently released, like Slumdog Millionaire, Milk and Frost/Nixon, among others but I haven't seen them yet. I do like what I'm hearing about them from the critics, though, so the holiday season might have enough quality to save what's otherwise been a disappointing year for movie goers, but I don't think I've seen any film so far this year that has instantly struck me as Oscar-worthy.

Not really a hard choice. This year was not really impressive, of course there 's The Dark knight ( I didn't watched it yet), but for the rest...

Ok, The Dark Knight does win, but I'll make a special mention for Wall-E, since it was the best Pixar movie to date. This has been a relatively disappointing year indeed.

Didn't see Indiana but from the episode of South Park I watched... lets say that symbolism that they used in the episode wasn't positive .
The only movie I watched this year was Dark Knight, and after the hype I heard it did not disappoint, to be honest it went beyond the hype and expectation I had.

"Taken" with liam Neeson.

Nothing better than watching an angry old man throwing down the hurt.

That and also because liam Neeson is from my home town =D

I have to say, even without the rapid fire editing, Mr Neeson is one competent Warrior for a 56 year old man, don't you think?

Not as upbeat and fun as Indy (and it wasn't meant to be, for a movie of its serious subject matter), but I have to admit that Taken would be a close Number 2 or 3 for me after Indy. Nothing like a bit of martial-arts meets righteous-rage meets fatherly-love to stir the blood of the warrior inside.

This film really made me wish there was the electric chair for rape and drug dealing, so NOBODY would dare to do those horrible things to helpless little girls ever again.

Since both "There Will Be Blood" and "No Country For Old Men" seem to be 07...
