How do u tell friends to start watching One Piece?

All my friends always start whining about how long the series is, the characters looks, and amount of time in downloading. These reasons always kept them away from the series.

I kinda hate myself for not be able to pursade em well.

What kind of people they are? just a normal anime fans.

just show them the first.. 5-10 episodes that you yourself downloaded. Once they get hooked on that, the bitching will either go away, or they arent fans of it, in which case they wont be "hooked" in the first place.

What works in my case is that the manga (possibly asking them to first, take a look at volume one before making any sort of judgement) is introduced to them first (before telling them about the anime), explicitly stating that one piece is fun, comedy, fast-paced action all in one (without depressing storylines and the main characters are not going to end up dead - there are quite a number of anime/manga fans who have an aversion to this).

lol, I am on the same boat. I can't convince my sister to watch One Piece. i was watching epi 83 on my laptop and she kinda peak over and ask, "what the hell is that crap drawing? Who is that guy? Why isn't he wearing any winter clothing? etc ... "

I told her I had to get over the drawing as well but afterward, its all good. The first epi of OP can't be compared to Naruto but the rest can be placed above and beyond naruto. Its a good thing that K-F started to release the batch otherwise, I would of never downloaded this anime.

It was the manga and the 1st two movies that really got me into one piece. It's hard to get any of my friends to watch One Piece because they all watched the 4kids Dub (eww) and have come to conclusion that it sucks.

Tell them to watch the 4th movie, they don't need to know much about it, and the movie is wrapped nicely in just 1 showing.

Then tell them there's episodes that blow that movie away
