After a couple of weeks of vacation, I'm glad to be back in the forum.

Getting back to the thread, there's something I've been wondering about. Who is the girl with the headband in Zan episode 6 and Goku episode 3? Who voices her?

Spoiler for First year girl next door:

Oh, and Season 3.5 with 2 more OADs have been announced for the 19th and (probably) 20th volumes. Zan extra chapters. Still 3470yen.

They'll never get to the fourth season as everyone will be dead by then.

gg just release Episode 6... & it's the most epic this season so far... Harem Heaven well in Nozumu's case, Harem Hell, especially in a 52 way relationship lol...

I'm actually quite suprised he could pick up that many chicks... and I'm also suprised he's still alive... he's like kenny from South Park lol.

Watched a bit of episode six this morning and had to make myself stop so I wasn't late for work....

Looks like Majiru was watching CLANNAD, and has a Konata poster on his wall...

Did like the Macross Frontier reference (the bit about the love triangle).

Psycho music for Chiri.

This is one of those shows I have to watch at least twice. Once just to sit and watch it, and once with my finger on the pause button ready to catch all those "blink and you'll miss 'em" moments.

Watched Episode 6. Zan has been feeling disappointingly "watered-down" thus far, but this episode somehow felt like classic SZS all over again. I just can't put my finger on what makes the je ne sais quoi of a great SZS episode.

Oora Kanako was pretty cute, and the music playing when she was on-screen was nice. I would like to see more of her in the future. But seriously, could someone explain the meaning behind her name?

Also, what's a G-pen? And wtf was with Chiri's drawing at the end of the episode? Other than that, 6 was a fun episode.

Her name literally is spelled "Ooraka na ko" which means "a very quite, calm, placid girl"

I find the naming in this show hilarious, lazy, but awesome at the same time.

My favorite is Nozomu's "Old Friend" named "Kyoyuuno", which of course, roughly translates to the same thing.

Really? Hmmm for me Ive actually been enjoying Zan more then Zoku but nothing still compares to the original. Zoku I found boring in parts, Zan has yet to do that. The topic of things you shouldnt do as adults was hilarious.

Edit: Poor Majiru he's scarred for life now

G-pens are distinctively shaped ink pen nibs, held in wooden shafts. Their
name comes from the small "G"-shaped indentation at the base of the nib.
G-pens are bought by the dozen, since they wear out fairly quickly. They
produce a variety of line widths and effects, and are an essential tool
for most manga artists. Other popular types are kabura pens and maru pens.

It's kind of odd to me (although there's nothing wrong with it) that people find the original the best, because I thought the series wasn't terribly compelling until Zoku (but now I'm a huge fan).

It might be that Zoku's pace was generally faster, I don't know.

Zoku is where the experimental side of the show appeared, and i loved every second of it.

The first half of the first series was great. Then it became somewhat boring and bland (even if still thought-provoking) until the final episode, which returned it to greatness (and gave us Ai. Have I mentioned lately how much I like Ai?).

Zoku was generally funnier and more energetic, even if somewhat more shallow as well. Goku and Zan have been, IMHO, mostly a middle point between both of the two first seasons, thematically speaking.

Zoku was really done well IMO.

It was probably because they have so much extra time that they could do alot more.

S1 was nice, and at that time all the now tiring gags were fresh and charming.

Examples included Matoi's Jiii and Kafuka's denial of the world.

But its still charming, in a different way now. Its witty and entertaining, and it seems to be progressing a bit more nowadays.

7b subtitles are basically what SHAFT-haters are spamming in 2ch's SHAFT thread. Really funny because you can went there and identify the replies they used (e.g. #428, #432 etc.)

A bit nitpicking here…

I stopped watching because of a problem with my pc, but these days, i watched all of the episodes so far and i have to say: URUU RAY DISC is the best pun evahhhhh. I cried from laughter in that episode.

And i always laugh from seeing how they manage to put a panty shot in every story. I know they do this for a while, but it's still fun to me, hehe.

Ep 6

I'm still getting over all those backhands this episode gave to mobile phone novels. That was brutal. No mercy there.

I'm with Asc, this season has felt somewhat tepid compared with previous ones... and a tad repetitive as well. I think ClockWorkAngel is kinda close to the mark. A lot of the gags that felt fresh and clever in the first two series are probably a bit more stale now. I've always felt that anime comedy have a very limited shelf-life for various reasons. If it wasn't for this episode, I'd be very worried that SZS was very close to the end of its.

It'll be good if this practice is going to end. The 2nd part is mostly just overlaps from the 1st part, and breaking the story into two parts breaks the flow. Either they're giving each story more screentime (positive view), or trying to use less stories to fill up the series (negative view).

ZSZS is better than the last half of Zoku; it seems less random.
