Free virus scan

Anyone know free virus scan sites other than trendmicro? Trendmicro doesn't seems work for me now

VirusTotal - you can upload any file you want (provided it ain't too big - can't remember the size limit) and it'll be analyzed by around forty AV engines, among which are Kaspersky, NOD32, BitDefender, GData, Avira, Symantec, Comodo, McAfee, Panda, TrendMicro, AVG, Avast, etc (Entire list is here).

Then it's up to you to decide whether the suspected file is really guilty of malware activity (take the heuristic detections with a grain of salt, too - they could be false positives...or not).

Otherwise, you can go to, or and use the online scans.

Are we talking about the ones that run a scan via your web browser of a full anti-virus app that has a resident shield and everything?

I use the free version of Avast for the latter.
