In the United Kingdom and Ireland, Mothering Sunday falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent, exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday (March 22 in 2009). It is believed to have originated from the 16th century Christian practice of visiting one's mother's church annually, which meant that most mothers would be reunited with their children on this day. Most historians believe that young apprentices and young women in servitude were released by their masters that weekend in order to visit their families.[17] As a result of secularization, it is now principally used to show appreciation to one's mother, although it is still recognized in the historical sense by some churches, with attention paid to Mary the mother of Jesus Christ as well as the traditional concept 'Mother Church'.
In church too, they give the kids free daffodils (which usually bloom in March and has become associated with this holiday) to give to their mothers since they can't really afford real flowers.
(Didn't stop some of us from picking them from the street side or from someone's garden though... >.>)

But it fell on March 22nd of this year so…
*swipes her hands*
Done and dusted.

In Japan however, it coincides with America, so there's all kinds of adverts at the moment for chocolate or flowers.
I may send an e-card to my ex-host mother, otherwise will do nothing much.

The Mother's Day in France falls on June 7th I will celebrate it with my family, and buy a present for my mom, and hug her, again and again. I do love my mama a lot <3

About my grandma, we already celebrated it in advance during my vacation, because it falls on May 10 in Slovakia and we celebrated it a bit too about my mom since she's slovak (and will do it again on may 10th ) So we kinda do it twice per year

>o< It sure is.

In my case, to see my mom's family (and so my grandma) we had to travel by plane since they are in Slovakia (at least it was not by car <.<). But isn't it great to go see people from your family once in a while? ^^

My mom could care less If i gave her something. She doesn't want me wasting my time for a homemade gift or spending my allowance for her. (Though im going to make her something this year )
Last time though I made her a flower pen.

I've not yet decided whether to take her out to dinner or just cook for her at home.

Decided to throw in a mother's day lunch, baked her a nice omelet with mushrooms on toast with a little mayonnaise and tomatoes, she freakin loved it (in fact she had been drooling at the omelet I made earlier this week so much I decided to throw in the offer XD )
