If you are talking about the one gogodr was playing, it's proably Janryumon.

anyone in NA will not be able to access JanRyumon without a proxy.
this is probably to prevent potential payment fraud.

yeah it is Janryumon
I'm from Peru (South America)
have no problems to play. only hard thing is to create the account because of the Japanese characters captcha

also thanks, that website with the rules in english was really helpful.
I play riichi style in my PC but with my friends I play the international one (( I got a mahjong table and tiles here )) but we were kind of unsure about the points system. it is all there which helps a lot, now we can play and use the website to check the points.

Tenhou is trying to tell me something.

http://tenhou.net/0/?log=2010080211g...4bc026b90&tw=0

This is fucking ridiculous. I haven't see ANY Yakuman in well over a month, and now I've been hit with a Yakuman, TWICE, IN A DAY, WHILE IN EAST. I'm taking a break from this bullshit.

East 1-1: Y'coulda gone Honitsu with at least 4 dora.

Though, in this game, particularly, you've gone Tanyao very often. Getting quick hands is an obvious advantage to going in that direction. However, what are some weaknesses to Tanyao?

aw man that really sucks.

better watch out when doing open calls because tenhou sometimes allow one player to draw the needed tile to complete one of their shanten.

It's a relatively low scoring hand, usually. It's also relatively easy to spot.

However, Tanyou's advantages outweigh its negatives, IMO.

And, yeah, hindsight is 20/20. Pretty much shows how my luck was going that game.

You can't ron from closed kans, so no.

* In case of Kokushi Musou, some allow the person to ron from closed kans, but tenhou doesn't allow that.

lol. So I forgot why I stopped playing...

But don't feel bad for him; he manages to do a couple of 6ish turn tsumos as dealer to come back and win the game anyways. Everyone's happy and I can conveniently be in 4th place again but what's new?

At least 3p seems to be better luck =p

I play mahjong in real life with my friends (the set cost us $60 and the shipping cost was $57.50 LOL). I am person who studies each hand value and decides how much points each player gets at the end of the round.

If you guys would be so kind to answer my questions, I'd love you forever!

1. We play by double ron. If a player gets double ronned on and there's a riichi stick in the pot, what happens to it? Is it split up between the two players or kept in the pot for next round?

2. If someone robs a kan (by ron), is a dora indicator flipped up? Or is the kan completely stolen? (Thus allowing fan for first turn riichi)

3. If you get yakuman (say, all green), are you eligible for the yakuman for having 13+ fan?

4. When does dealership change? I need some clarification on this. From what I can gather, dealership changes only when the dealer doesn't win.

5. There is an all simples hand consisting of nothing but chi's and a pair. The pair is not special and the wait was two-sided. The only yaku is all simples. Thus, I only count 20 fu (the base). But when I look at the chart to figure out how many points to deal out, it says below it, "Note that it is impossible for such a hand to have a tally of 20." (Source: http://www.ofb.net/~whuang/ugcs/gp/mahjong/mahjong.html) What the heck am I doing wrong here?

I'd really appreciate it if someone could answer these. It'd make my life so much easier!

EDIT: Oh yea! I'm reminded of a couple more questions:

6. We play by dealer difficulty (When dealer has won 5 times in a row, they need 2 yaku to win). Now, is it 5 consecutive wins by the dealer itself, or is it based upon the 100pt counter sticks that are placed out?

7. That reminds me of another question: When are dealership sticks passed rather than removed? I've played tenhou and sometimes the sticks are passed to the next dealer. I think this is due to a drawn game where nobody won, but I'm not sure. XD

Person closest to dealer, going counter-clockwise, gets all the riichi sticks. Similar to head bumps.

2. If someone robs a kan (by ron), is a dora indicator flipped up? Or is the kan completely stolen? (Thus allowing fan for first turn riichi)

No, the dora indicator isn't flipped. Dora indicators are not flipped until after a discard, with the exception of a concealed kan. Since there was no discard, because of the declared win, no dora indicator is flipped.

3. If you get yakuman (say, all green), are you eligible for the yakuman for having 13+ fan?

No, you cannot get a kazoe yakuman if you already have one of the special yakuman hands. However, you can, of course, have something like Suu Ankou with the All Green yakuman.

4. When does dealership change? I need some clarification on this. From what I can gather, dealership changes only when the dealer doesn't win.

It changes when East isn't tenpai at the end of a hand, or didn't win the hand.

It is because in order to have a pinfu (all simples), your hand must be concealed. If you win on a ron with a concealed hand, it is automatically 30 fu, to start with.

There's no official rule for this (it's a house rule) so you're free to decide, but I'd say in most cases people would enforce ryukyouku as counting toward that kind of restriction. Riichi + Pinfu are two yaku right there, and are easy to get; forcing the dealer to need 2 yaku after five wins is a major handicap for the other players.

For the "eight wins" yakuman, it's definitely eight consecutive wins as opposed to eight non-consecutive wins or wins + ryukyouku tenpai.

During ryukyouku only. You get your sticks back unless you're in a ryukyouku where you're not in Tenpai, whereby it passes to the next player to go dealer.
