Well regardless don't mind the images since it gives a chance to check out some nice fanart without hunting it all down in other places

. If Fairy Tail has anything it definitely has some nice looking characters

Looking forward to the next big arc after how well Fantasia was done. They have given some nice fights the last while in this series. Really quite the jump from what we had at the start.

I dont' see the point of getting a subforum for a series that barely passed 2 pages per episode ratio...

It's not so much about the number of posts, as it is the number of topics available. Music, screenshots and episode of the week don't make much of a subforum...

Wasn't D.Gray Man initially going to be 50ish episodes and got an extension much like Fairy Tail did? Besides considering the mangakas health they really couldn't keep the anime running.. heck even Gintama and Reborn have stopped or are about to stop and D.Gray Man manga is much more popular than those two and FT.

That it did. I still remember how the lot of us where so damn confused at the episode 49 mark as to how it will end, and then the announcement appeared.

Yeah, there was an episode (51 iirc) which was pretty clearly intended to be a finale.

Makes sense: it's pretty obvious they didn't know the show was continuing much earlier than we did from those final few episodes so they might need some time for polish. Of course that's just my most likely wrong theory.

48 was a perfect end to the Laxus Arc and they could have well ended FT on a high right there.

Glad they are continuing this series and hope for equally good arcs as this one!

Wow have to admit there really are some great Erza pics out there. But I guess Erza is a character that is set-up to have epic moments

Since we have the week free can just go into a few different topics. Do wonder about Mirajane and how far she might return to being her old self. No way she can fully get over what happened to Lisanna or be unchanged by it. Still leaves me amazed by the severe shift though. A tough confident mage to a more supporting role, magazine icon, and comic value (the random transformations into odd things). Not that it's wrong for people to change, but still think Mirajane is trying to live almost as her sister rather than as herself.

The funny thing with this series was at the start I expected they would end up at around this level of quality for the magic and fights. I just wonder why they didn't try to start well and instead used those cut-scene like moves for the early battles.

Maybe because they didn't know how many cours this was supposed to run for? Budget control is pretty important...

D Gray Man started out just like Fairy Tail, everyone thinking it was going to end at at 48-52. Then it got picked up and kept on going. DGM got into a roll for a while, was on its way to becoming one of the everlasting manga adaptations but the mangakas health threw a wrench into those plans. Manga was on and off for a while, now it's a monthly.

The decision to keep this series going wasn't done last week. It probably happened weeks to a few months into the series. The series has been airing weekly for a year, they planned the 48 episodes in advance before it was aired, I presume, since rumor goes that's the originally planned run and that's the way it comes off on screen. They had to make the call before production had to wind down in order for the series to meet its weekly deadline.

The deadline probably has nothing to do with production. Episode 49 should have been done a long time ago. Could have been a scheduling conflict with the network, a censorship issue, dubbing/editing mishap, some error caught at the last second. . . could also be some planned sports event or something.
