I didn't want to jump onto the bandwagon too early, but yeah, I just have to admit it now...

Spoiler for Episode 3:

EDIT: Mmm maybe it's not Sora no Pantsu, Dokuro-chan is the right one me thinks (like in the novel).

BTW is there any relation between this series and Yozakura Quartet? It is written by a different author and animated by a different studio, yet there are reference of it in Dhurarara.

Just the same character designer, no story relationship at all.

The way the opening integrated footage from the show itself in the middle of the song reminded me a lot of the way the SPT Layzner openings were layed out:

It's cool because this way you get to have 13 or so (50 in Layzner's case) seperate and distinct opening sequences.

Anyway this show conjures up more what I would imagine the label "slice of life" would mean as opposed to the whole fluff factor it's come to be identified with recently. It's like getting to take a quick look into the lives and concerns of the people who might be all around you but would otherwise appear to somebody maybe just vaguely interesting if you passed them on the street. A slice of their life if you will. It also helps when the person who's life you are taking a look into is actually interesting and/or has some element of struggle to it as it does in the case of Rio.

Just a couple more things, one is that Izaya reminds me of myself in the way I choose to view the world and people an awful lot.....if not frighteningly so. The other is that while I don't agree with the whole "The world is not as cruel as you think it might be" message I do ultimately agree that what one sees may not be reality.

I figured he was looking up some kind of information along those lines. Izaya is really mysterious.

I don't know what he sees in Mikado, though.

Great episode. Just fun and without all the silly little mindgames. Or at least not as much this time.

But I do wish the novelist/anime would stop narrating every damn little thing. It's called exposition. Not everything needs narrating.

I suspect this way they can do random shots of the city and not actually have to animate as much. Though it does some what gives you a feel of the setting and what's going on between people, somewhat setting the pace for the story in a way.

I don't mind it that much personally because I don't feel it is flooding yet.

I'd like this anime better without the excessive narration. It's clunky and seems redundant when there are also chatroom scenes giving exposition.

I know it's a bit unusual for him but it doesn't change the fact Anri is STACKED. Her jacket was about to crack open when she was running . Personally, I don't mind, I love all of her <3

i get a feeling that all the strange overpoweredness is the animation of a story told many times before and therefor has changed to become more interesting and in the end all that happened was a normal story told out of proportions.
I think that would be a cool thing.
