It actually reminded of the chapel. I thought the book was a bible.

It's a chapel. Look at the windows and there are also benches.

Episode seems to be great if this stuff is legit.

I have reason to believe that "Rion" is NOT "Leon."

If it were "Leon," then the kana of Rion's name would read れおん (Reon). That is NOT the case. "Rion" is spelled りおん with a り (ri), not a れ (re). The name "Leon" in Katakana is レオン. "Rion" would be リオン. Because of this, and based on what I have read on Wikipedia, the most plausible names to give "Rion" would be "Lion" or "Lions." Both are REAL Western names, just like the names of almost all other Ushiromiya-born people.

Well wouldn't "Rion" basically sound the same as "Leon" from the engrish?

According to what I can find The name Leon is pronounced Lee- ahn so I think it makes sense.

I submit that a murder was committed in 1996.
This murder was a "copycat" crime inspired by our tales of 1986.
This story is a redacted confession.

In every instance the name "Leon" is said aloud in Japanese, its romaji was "Reon" (pronounced with a short "e" sound), not "Rion" (pronounced with a long "e" sound).

The way something sounds in English doesn't always denote the way it sounds in Japanese. Take "Beatrice" for example. The Japanese pronounce the name similar to how it is said in Italian, where the name was derived from the Latin "Beatrix," with a short "e" sound and a "ch" standing in for the "c." In English, it is pronounced with a long "e" and soft "c" sound. Similarly, Leon" is pronounced with a short "e" sound rather than a long one in most other Western languages where it became prominent, most notably German.
