i actually let it play until the end. lmao, my friends walked in and said wtf is that. lol

seriously, i thought this endless looping nightmare would end on ep6, apparently, it didn't. imho this was an incredibly huge risk to take and they failed. i don't know of anyone who likes this. in fact some of them are so angry they're dropping it completely. hows the ratings for this in japan? i wonder what they think.

I'll say again, Ep2 would have been perfect if not for the glare.

It had epic clothing though.

after watching all the E8 compared I can say E8 5 (the most recent one) was going at the fastest rate, they could've seriously ended it on that one

I've seen this asked several times, but nobody's posted an answer to my knowledge.

I've been enjoying Endless Eights as well, though I do really, really hope that tomorrow's episode ends it.

Endless Eight is getting to be such a big deal that it should probably get its own discussion thread once the ark (ever?) finishes.

But it's diminishing from the loops ability to make us feel how Yuki feels and thus is nowhere near as daring and brilliant as normal length Endless Eight.

It went faster so they could fit in the loop of Haruhi leaving 4 times. Although is it me or is Mikuru's squeek when Kyon stands up louder on the first instance?

This was posted in the ratings thread (where all ratings are listed, btw), right after someone asked about the current ratings for Haruhi a couple of days ago:

Endless 8 has a plus side for those who watch the story enough, maybe we can learn a far amount of Japanese this way.

*raises hand* Seconded. They're trying an unproven idea that few have attempted before. I happen to like being an audience to forms of storytelling. If I want by-the-formula entertainment, I'll go to the Naruto forum over there.

*Raises Hand* Thirded. I think Endless Eight is totally in the spirit of Haruhi!

Urgh... I kind of watched this latest episode, mainly skipping ahead every minute. If it's not resolved next episode I'm dropping this.

Well generally there's two parts to an idea...the concept and the execution.

CONCEPT: Wow, lets have the same episode over, and over, and over, and over and over again... Thats out of this world, it will be outside the box, it'll be funky, itll be craaaazy...etc.

EXECUTION: General consensus.....people are not amused. Its one thing to sympathizes Yuki's ordeal in this short story...its a totally different thing to experience it as well.

I just had an interesting thought, I wonder if all the shots of cicadas, and maybe even the bug hunt itself, isn't a huge reference to Higurashi, another anime that uses time loops.

this must be a test of Haruhi only the most fittest... oh wait scratch that... most tolerant will survive.

1/10 rating now has 50-60 lesser than the last episode

I've said it before: I know it's an experiment in storytelling. I just think it's a failure. This could have absolutely been done with the same effect in three episodes and with the same effect. As for "by-the-formula" entertainment---I'll take a Naruto episode that does what it intends to do over a Haruhi episode that fails to do what it intended any day.

The only thing memorable about the cicadas for me was the shot of Mikuru's in the first E8 episode... of course the only one she'd be able to catch would be the only retarded one in that entire forest
