In my experience download speeds with transmission aren't great. Also doesn't support DHT AFAIK.
There was also a rather annoying issue with speed limit mode. If I ever accidently enabled it on any of my Macs the machine would hang within 5 minutes. Due to the way Transmission implemented that feature it filled up the network buffers of the OS and caused it to hang. Edit: Been using the beta more and its really buggy still. If you set utorrent to be the default app for .torrent files and you try to open the torrent file by double clicking it in finder, or selecting it in a dock stack, or double clicking it from the download window in safari the application you attempted to open it from crashes. That's really annoying. Last edited by Epyon9283; 2008-11-29 at 15:09. |

Deluge is a GTK app so it's going to run in X11 on OS X. That's generally pretty icky. You don't get a neat .app bundle to assign file types to and X11 has quite a few bugs. One of my favorites is that tool tips will bleed through an application in the background to show up out of place in whatever application you have in the foreground.
Plus look at all the dependencies I'd need to install. I'd need to switch the system python framework to the one installed by macports and that frightens me a bit. Code:
Mac-Pro:~ tom$ sudo port deps deluge deluge has library dependencies on: python25 dbus-python25 gettext librsvg py25-gtk py25-hashlib py25-setuptools py25-xdg py25-zlib boost |

From my experience of running Transmission, the later versions are alot better... The early versions like 0.9x have alot of problems, but all of it is fixed now...
Also, I don't like using X11 that much... it takes away the native feel of Mac OS X away and it works like a linux application with all the non-native widgets (yuck)... If I were to use a X11 app, I rather use Linux instead. Also, Transmission have DHT support in versions 1.7x and higher
