One Piece Movie 2: Nejimaki Shima no Bouken

Just watched movie two again, and noticed a farily big contradiction, namely Boo Jack.

At around the 7:15 minute mark, we clearly see Boo Jack floating in the water, being used as a stand for the Water fruit chick.

At around the 40:40 mark, Boo Jack then tells Sanji to "Die against my Toge Toge armour" (ie, Spike Fruit) and goes all spikey on him.

Soo, if Boo Jack is a devil fruit user, how come he can bobble about in the ocean like that without going all limp and powerless like Luffy does?

Was that just a translation error in the subtitles, or what?

Kinda bothered me too...
Maybe percentage immersion affects whether you become powerless....
Or... maybe because he's a hollow ball, thus floats without needing to move...
Er... he is moving...

I wonder if Luffy could then inflate and float without fearing death by drowning...

Its best not to think about contridictions between the movies and the series as Oda never really had any direct contribution to them.

*NOTE: I didn't see this movie, I don't have the damnedest idea how deep he was in the water*

In the whole Gunkan Island arc, Apis stands about waist-high in water, and she's perfectly fine. I would guess that you'd have to be half-way underwater before you're completely powerless.

I doubt she really turned into water, probably more along the lines of a thin slime or some such. sorta like oil vs. water.
