A D20 for Kanon/CLANNAD?

This idea just popped into my brain at random tonight. Since Everything is More Epic with Faerun and Dungeon and Dragon, why not try making a D20 system for Kanon and run the whole anime through it and see hilarity ensue?

Perks include:

- Episode 1:
+ Yuichi tries out Akiko's jam: Yuichi: Fortitude Save against Poison *failure* (14+2 = 16 vs. DC = 25)
+ Ayu crashes into Yuichi: Ayu attempts Knockdown on Yuichi *success* (16 - 5 = 11)

and generally things along those lines.

Anyone with me?

Scare? (doesn't get it)

I got this idea after realizing that in the last episode

Spoiler:

I think it'd be appropriate.

Alright then, I suppose I'll kick-start anyway with the three characters introduced in episode 1 first:

A/ Disclaimer:

1) Kanon belongs to KyoAni and Key Visual Arts. Dungeons and Dragons and Forgotten Realms belong to Wizards of the Coast, last time I checked. I've got nutin'.

2) This is a very rough interpretation of what happened in the plot by an amateur DM and is prone to a lot of errors. Please bear with me.

B/Characters:

1) Yuuichi Aizawa

Size/Type: Medium Human (Commoner Level 1)
Hit Dice: 1d6 + 1 (4 HP)
Initiative: +1
Speed: 30 feet (6 squares)
Armor Class: 12 (+1 Dex, + 1 Padded Winter Coat, 10 Natural), Flatfooted 11, Touch 11.
Base Attack/Grapple: +0 / +1
Attack: Punch + 1 (1d3 + 1) (Nonlethal) / Punch -3 (1d3 + 1) (Lethal) / Shinai + 1 (1d4 + 1) (Nonlethal) (After Mai arc ONLY)
Full Attack: Punch + 1 (1d3 + 1) (Nonlethal) / Punch -3 (1d3 + 1) (Lethal) / Shinai + 1 (1d4 + 1) (Nonlethal) (After Mai arc ONLY)
Space/Reach: 5 feet / 5 feet
Special Attack: Grapple Friendly (See below)
Special Qualities: Human Trait, KyoAni Male Lead Trait.
Saves: Fort + 2, Ref + 2, Will + 3
Ability Scores: Str 12 (+1), Dex 12 (+1), Con 12 (+1), Int 12 (+1), Wis 10 (+0), Cha 14 (+2)
Skills: Discipline + 2.
Feats: KyoAni Male Lead (See Below), Weapon Proficiency (Exotic)
Environment: Snowy Urban.
Alignment: Neutral Good.

Human Trait

- Medium: As Medium creatures, humans have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
- Human base land speed is 30 feet.
- 1 extra feat at 1st level.
- 4 extra skill points at 1st level and 1 extra skill point at each additional level.
- Automatic Language: Japanese (Not Common in this case, as Common = English. KyoAni characters aren’t too hot on English).
- Favored Class: Any. When determining whether a multiclass human takes an experience point penalty, his or her highest-level class does not count.

KyoAni Male Lead Trait (Extraordinary, Supernatural)

- Snark: Following the example of Kyon and Tomoya Okazaki, all KyoAni male leads gets the ability to explore concepts with additional snarkiness. This character gains + 4 on Bluff, Diplomacy, Persuasion and Intimidate checks against friendly characters and + 2 against neutral characters.

- Hardiness vs. Supernatural Happenings: This character unconsciously disbelieves the supernatural if he has the chance to. The character gains + 5 on Listen, Search and Spot Checks pertaining to supernatural or unbelievable happenings.

- Hardiness vs. Insanity: This character gains + 6 Will Save against frightening or disheartening mind effects.

- Hardiness vs. Lethal Damage: Everytime the KyoAni lead takes lethal damage, he/she makes a Fortitude save with DC equal to damage being done. If the save succeeds, the damage taken is regarded as nonlethal damage.

- Inspire Courage (KyoAni Lead): Similar to the Paladin ability, the KyoAni male lead is surrounded with an aura of courage. This aura grants surrounding characters of the opposite sex + 4 Will Save against frightening and disheartening mind effects, - 1 per character of opposite sex within a 10 yard radius to a minimum of +1.

Grapple Friendly: This character can perform a Grapple at full attack against a friendly character to keep them from plunging danger.

2) Nayuki Minase

Size/Type: Medium Human (Commoner Level 1)
Hit Dice: 1d6 + 1 (4 HP)
Initiative: +1
Speed: 30 feet (6 squares)
Armor Class: 14 (+3 Dex, 0 Winter Sailor Fuku, + 1 Tumble, 10 Natural), Flatfooted 10, Touch 14.
Base Attack/Grapple: +0 / +0
Attack: Punch + 0 (1d3) (Nonlethal) / Punch -4 (1d3) (Lethal)
Full Attack: Punch + 0 (1d3) (Nonlethal) / Punch -4 (1d3) (Lethal)
Space/Reach: 5 feet / 5 feet
Special Attack: None
Special Qualities: Human Trait.
Saves: Fort + 0, Ref + 4, Will + 1
Ability Scores: Str 10 (+0), Dex 17 (+3), Con 10 (+1), Int 11 (+0), Wis 10 (+0), Cha 14 (+2)
Skills: Tumble + 5
Feats: Animal Affinity (Cat), Animal of Bane (Cat), Sleepy, Blinding Advance (Extraordinary).
Environment: Snowy Urban.
Alignment: Chaotic Good.

Animal Affinity (Cat) (Extraordinary): Every time Nayuki comes within 30 feet of a cat or cat-like animal, the following happens:

- Ignore the creature’s fear/mind-effecting aura if any. Nayuki’s dedication to cats nullifies even a Krenshar’s boney head.
- Nayuki makes a will save with DC equal to (30 – distance between her and cat-like animal). If this save fails, Nayuki will plunge towards the cat and attempt to stroke (touch attack, +1 to hit) the creature. This is perceived as a hostile action towards neutral, undomesticated cats and provokes an Attack of Opportunity.
- If Yuuichi is within 10 feet of Nayuki, he may, as he chooses, attempt an opposed Fortitude Check against Nayuki, with full Grapple bonus, to attempt a Friendly Grapple on her. If this check fails, Nayuki proceeds to stroke the cat.

Animal of Bane (Cat) (Extraordinary): Nayuki is allergic to cats. Every time she touches/is touched by a cat, she must make a Fortitude Check with DC equal to the cat’s Hit Dice multiplied with its size modifier (+ 1 for Fine, +2 for Tiny, + 3 for Small and so forth). If she fails this check, she will start tearing profusely, suffer a – 3 to attack, saves and initiative. At this point, the above Fortitude save is repeated. If this save is successful, Nayuki will suffer from this status for 1d10 + 1 minutes. If this save fails, this status will last 1d10 + 1 hour, and Nayuki will lose 1 Con temporarily for 1d4 + 1 days after the status ends.

Sleepy: Nayuki is a heavy sleeper. She takes a -5 penalty on Will Saves against Sleep. Every time she tries to wake up from a natural sleep, she must make a Will save with DC equal to the number of hours she remained awake in the past 24 hours. Failing this save plunges her back to sleep.

Blinding Advance (Extraordinary): Nayuki can add her Dexterity modifier to her base movement speed, in square unit, up to three times a day. She cannot use this ability when sleepy.

[b]3) Akiko Minase[b]

Size/Type: Medium Human (Commoner Level 4)
Hit Dice: 1d6 + 1 (4 HP)
Initiative: +0
Speed: 30 feet (6 squares)
Armor Class: 11 (+0 Dex, 1 Winter Coat, 10 Natural), Flatfooted 11, Touch 11.
Base Attack/Grapple: +0 / +0
Attack: Punch -1 (1d3 - 1) (Nonlethal) / Punch - 5 (1d3) (Lethal)
Full Attack: Punch - 1 (1d3 - 1) (Nonlethal) / Punch - 5 (1d3 - 1) (Lethal)
Space/Reach: 5 feet / 5 feet
Special Attack: None
Special Qualities: Human Trait.
Saves: Fort - 1, Ref + 0, Will + 3
Ability Scores: Str 9 (-1), Dex 11 (+0), Con 9 (-1), Int 14 (+2), Wis 14 (+2), Cha 12 (+1)
Skills: Animal Empathy + 5.
Feats: Brew Potion (Jam) (See below), Gullibility vs. Convince (see Below)
Environment: Snowy Urban.
Alignment: Lawful Good.

Brew Potion (Jam) (Extraordinary): Unlike the skilled wizards of the Forgotten Realms, Akiko Minase can only brew one single, specific type of potion. She can create this potion at no GP or EXP cost once a month and condensed it into a poisonous jam to be taken through ingestion.

Akiko’s Jam
Base item: Jam
Nobody knows what the ingredient of this secret jam is. But maybe not knowing is for the better. She can’t probably use Skeleton’s Knuckle, Fenberries or Slaad’s Tongues in the concoction… Oh wait…
Special: On Ingestion: DC-20 Fortitude Save, if fail then DC-20 Will Save Daze and DC-20 Fortitude Save Poison: 1d4 Con damage for 1d4 + 1 hours.

Gullibility vs. Convince: When an Opposed Check against Persuasion is made, Akiko automatically fails, except if she rolls a 20.

4) Makoto Sawatari

Size/Type: Medium Human (Commoner Level 1)
Hit Dice: 1d6 + 3 (5 HP)
Initiative: + 1

Base Attack/Grapple: +1 / +3
Attack: Punch +1 (1d3 + 1) (Nonlethal) / Punch - 3 (1d3 +1) (Lethal)
Full Attack: Punch + 1 (1d3 + 1) (Nonlethal) / Punch - 3 (1d3 + 1) (Lethal)
Space/Reach: 5 feet / 5 feet
Special Attack: None
Special Qualities: Human Trait, Kitsune Abilities (See Below), Cursed (See below), Illiterate.
Saves: Fort + 2, Ref + 3, Will + 0
Ability Scores: Str 13 (+1), Dex 15 (+2), Con 13 (+1), Int 10 (+0), Wis 8 (-2), Cha 14 (+2)
Skills: None
Feats: Dim-witted (See below), Gullibility vs. Convince (see Below)
Environment: Snowy Urban.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral.

Kitsune Abilities (Supernatural)

- Massive consumption: Makoto has to eat twice as much as a human of the same size category.
- Freedom: A fox is most at home in the forest and receives a + 1 to attack, damage and save rolls when in a forested area.
- [b]Natural Animal Affinity:[b] As an animal herself, Makoto automatically gains +10 on all Animal Empathy checks.

Cursed: Exchanging her memory and her remaining life for human form, Makoto is inflicted with a nigh incurable disease similar to Mummy Rot, but worse. Every 1d4 days, she must make a Fortitude Save with DC equal to 20 – her remaining Constitution. Succeeding this check will reduce her Con by 1, while failing it will reduce her Con, Wis and Int by 1d3 each. She loses the ability to speak coherently if her Int drops below 8 and the ability to act like human if her Wis drops below 5. If any of those three stats reaches zero (not just Con), she dies.

The gamemaster reserve the right to issue the cure. Know that even worse than the Mummy Rot in question, nothing short of a Full Miracle can cure her.

Dim-witted: Not being used to human interaction before, Makoto suffers a -10 penalty to Appraise, Persuade, Bluff and Diplomacy checks.

Gullibility vs. Convince: When an Opposed Check against Persuasion is made, Makoto automatically fails, except if she rolls a 20.

5) Ayu Tsukimiya (Astral Projection)

Size/Type: Small Humanoid (Outsider Level 1)
Hit Dice: 1d6 (3 HP)
Initiative: + 3
Speed: 30 feet (6 squares)
Armor Class: 10 (+ 0 Dex, 0 Light Winter Coat, 10 Natural), Flatfooted 10, Touch 10.
Base Attack/Grapple: -1 / +5
Attack: Punch -1 (1d3 - 1) (Nonlethal) / Punch - 5 (1d3 -1) (Lethal)
Full Attack: Punch - 1 (1d3 - 1) (Nonlethal) / Punch - 5 (1d3 - 1) (Lethal) or Grapple Knockdown (See below)
Space/Reach: 4 feet / 4 feet
Special Attack: Grapple Knockdown (See below)
Special Qualities: Human Trait, Limited Outsider Trait, Lich-like Phylactery (See below).
Saves: Fort - 1, Ref + 1, Will + 0
Ability Scores: Str 9 (-1), Dex 13 (+1), Con 9 (-1), Int 10 (+0), Wis 8 (-2), Cha 15 (+2)
Skills: None
Feats: Grapple Knockdown (See below), Lethal Cooking (See below), Theft Failure (See below), Spot Failure (See Below).
Environment: Snowy Urban.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral.

Limited Outsider Traits: Ayu’s astral projection carries these Outsider traits:

- Unlike most other living creatures, an outsider does not have a dual nature—its soul and body form one unit. When an outsider is slain, no soul is set loose. Spells that restore souls to their bodies, such as raise dead, reincarnate, and resurrection, don’t work on an outsider. It takes a different magical effect, such as limited wish, wish, miracle, or true resurrection to restore it to life. An outsider with the native subtype can be raised, reincarnated, or resurrected just as other living creatures can be.
- Outsiders breathe, but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish).

Lich-like Phylactery: Ayu’s lost relic plays a role similar, yet different from a lich’s phylactery. Ayu starts out not knowing her Outsider nature. If she consciously realizes it, either by being told or by visiting a familiar scene, she must make a DC-30 Will save to disbelieve the truth. Failing this save, she will be given 1d4+1 multiplied by 10 minutes to seek the relic. If Ayu cannot find this relic within the specified time, she dies as an Outsider.

Grapple Knockdown: Ayu can, once a day, perform this as a non-hostile action against a flat-footed friendly target. This takes the form of a Charge with full grapple attack bonus against the specified target. The target must then make a Fortitude save with DC equal to Ayu’s current Strength score with no Constitution bonus to save. If the target fails this save, Ayu glomps the target, knocking both it and herself prone.

Lethal Cooking: Every time, Ayu cooks, she must make a Reflex save with DC equal to the average amount of hit point it is capable of healing. Failing this save spoils the food, and it will instead damage the eater similar to the Cleric spell Inflict Wound. This damage, however, is nonlethal.

Theft Failure: Ayu suffers a -3 penalty on Pickpocket rolls.

Spot Failure: Ayu suffers a -3 penalty on Spot rolls.
