You know you can drop this show any time you want. Nobody's making you watch it.

Well, at this point I wonder how much they can squeeze into 2 more episodes.... unless they're adding another cour or even a second season in.

Yep. I'm gonna see whether they turn it into a complete waste of time or not. Gotta potentially waste another hour to not potentially waste the previous five.

I'm severely envious of you. I don't even have the free time to spend watching shows I hate just to see if I'll hate them more by the time they end. Do cherish your privilege to willingly waste your own time.

I like this series

By the way, newcomer will come to the squad and Kanata will become the head trumpeter, OK?

Romans and the girls are at the epic point of their battle when the aliens return, and both armies realize who their common enemy is. Guns are a blazing, and we hear the trumpet sound just before the smoke fills the screen. Fade to black and begin the wait for a season 2...

... but that's just me

You certainly have a unique way of showing your love.

I'm also so glad we can have a mature discussion without resorting to neg-repping people for telling it like it is.

I hope he doesn't live his life like that. He won't know if he's having a good time until he's dead.

Just reading up on the background and trying to make sense of it all without the real world bias is crazy at best.

I'll just watch the rest of it and see where it ends up. Very nice show, otherwise.

Okay enough of the rants. I really hope they made any indication on what happened to "them" after they won the war in the previous era though. All we got was a fossil in ep1. Deep slumber perhaps?

I was finally able to see episode 10. Now I feel like I've been hit in the stomach. I watch this show as a way to relax and enjoy something light and beautiful, but it wrapped me up emotionally more than I'd realized.

It was beautifully done (a couple of animation shortcuts aside). The foreshadowing and in-show symbolism worked together very well to create a beautiful story circle.

But it seemed very final in terms of Rio's story. I don't know if this is really the last we see of her or not, so I don't know what to think overall, but it felt like the end. I compare this to my experience reading the "Chronicles of Narnia" series as a child. At the end of one book, the eldest characters are told that they won't return to Narnia, and indeed they didn't in the next book. It seemed tragic for the characters and it was a blow to me as a reader to see the characters trampled upon, seemingly purposelessly, right before the story continues without them, now seemingly without purpose. Years later, a friend said to me, "You idiot! They all came back in the end!" If I'd known that, I would have continued, but it still would have felt wrong for the story to be going on without them.

So I'm going to continue watching Sora no Woto and hope something is different in the end... But it will feel very wrong for the story to go on without her. Her absence doesn't seem to serve a purpose for the other characters (we don't have enough development for Kanata taking her place to have much meaning), and without her personal story that the plot currents have centered around, the story itself seems much without purpose.

In short: My love for the series continues, but

I felt sad, too. But that's why this episode is excellent.

Spoiler for Who are the opponents?:

On other note...

Spoiler for Implications of war:

Also, they really should release a cd of Yu Kobayashi singing a Japanese cover of Amazing freaking Grace.

Spoiler for Episode 10 chart:

What the hell is Aisha doing?

No, better yet why isn't Kanata in her place?

Edit: I have just realised that this episode maybe inspired by real events of pollies with commitment issues.
Spoiler for Head of State of Enemy Nation?:

Since the old woman apparently wandered off into Nomansland, I have been thinking that perhaps the underground Labyrinth in the legend was really an underground military fortress and the Maidens were actually a tank crew that left the fortress to kill the last demon. And she will go far enough to reach it's sensors and those manning the fortress will realize that there is still life on parts of the land. If they used some sort of doomsday weapons to destroy the demons, it would be reasonable to think that they might build an underground, probably city size, "Noah's Ark" to try and repopulate the world when the land and sea would support life again.

Not so related.

But you don't have to wait any further for characters dying in a war if that's what you want.

The Pacific is finally out. A completely, hardcore war series. For me, I originally used this show to whet my appetite for this mini-series. Semper Fidelis!
