Right Stufís Nozomi Entertainment also announced its license for SORA NO WOTO. The 12-episode series and its DVD-exclusive special episodes are currently scheduled for release in 2011, as a single DVD box set with Japanese audio and English-language subtitles.
Suh-weet!

Yes, Nozomi is the perfect licensor for this show. I look forward to seeing what extras they include (translated director commentary tracks, booklets, audio drama, as much as possible please~).

I actually said I'd buy multiple copies of the R1 DVD if Soranowoto was licensed, and just like I did with Strike Witches, I still plan to.

Awww. I'm sad it's not gonna be dubbed. I seriously expected Bandai to get it, but alas Nozomi got it. Man, Kari Wahlgren would've been the PERFECT voice for Kanata!...that or Hynden Walch. But...oh well. I'll get the set anyway. I LOVE the music for this show!

Yay! No horrible dubbing I have to avoid! lol

2011 huh? I hope the long wait will give us all the extras translated.

I have no experience with Nozomi Entertainment's previous efforts. What other series have they done, and how do they compare to stuff dubbed by, say, Bandai or Bang Zoom?

Nozomi doesn't do do dubs. They only release their new licenses with English subtitles, albeit in a high-quality format that appeals to collectors.

Some of the shows they've done include:
- Maria-sama ga Miteru (Maria Watches Over Us)
- Aria the Animation
- Emma: A Victorian Romance
- Gakuen Alice
- Rental Magica

I looked around their site a little, and didn't see any previous release where they included commentary tracks (although I have no idea whether any of those shows had any commentaries to use in the first place), but they seem to add at least some extras.

I sent of an email asking them what sort of extras they'll be putting in, if they're going to translate and include the cd dramas then all you kiddies are going to have buy the dvds if you want your Sora No Woto drama cd 2 translations.

It's possible that they'll be included on the DVDs as still images with the audio track playing, and subtitles. Nozomi did the Picture Dramas for Aria this way. Or they could have CD's with a translation booklet attached.

The 1st round of SaiMoe is beginning today in JP time, and Kureha is up for voting. I hope she passes on...Kureha's cuteness is without peer. Noel is also up on the 7th of August.

Just noticed this:

Quote:
Second announcement of the day went to Sora no Woto - A series which has previously been available via Crunchyroll but will now be coming to the UK on DVD, with Beez co-ordinating with Rightstuf in the US on the release. It looks very likely that a Blu-Ray release for this series may not be possible.

If you want to watch the show, you should watch it on CrunchyRoll. Or wait for the DVDs.

Btw, the rules for AnimeSuki say under section 1.1 ("Unlicensed Anime or Manga only):

Quote:
"...all Messages requesting, providing, or otherwise discussing information about the use of illegally obtained media, or any service that aids in the illegal acquisition of such media, is expressly forbidden. The following is a list of media considered "banned" from The Forum because its acquisition is always considered illegal and unethical:

* Fansubs of Licensed Anime...[etc]""

Ya, especially with Rio giving the "explanation" of what her dream is, I assume this anime is set after a huge world war that basically destroyed all modern technology, aside from tank-kun of course which they had to rebuild :P. Defiantly a lot more "serious" then the last OVA that's for sure. Watching the new OVA reminded me of the times earlier this year of watching every new episode come out and discussing them, good times :'(.
