At the risk of making Ryukishi sound like an old man, I have to say I'm glad he's going back to his Higurashi roots for this one. Umineko no Naku Koro ni is great and all, but his ability to write psychological thrillers is what I'd rather much see grow right now, and I already can't wait to feast my eyes on this one.

Yeah, this story seems similar to Higurashi in a few ways. :3

I sure hope that Deen won't be taking this project on. Not that I hate Deen or anything, but I'd like to see what another animating company could do with Ryukishi's work.

We have both a website and an airing time (January 2010). It being on TBS isn't such a bad thing since they switched to widescreen this season. Looks like the game cast is maintained as well.

It doesn't seem to list a studio. Was a studio listed? And the director?

The studio is AIC, and the director is Nobuhiro Takamoto.

Ahh a different studio is taking it on. :3

January 2010? It just came out in August... and it's almost November. That's really soon, it gives me something to look forward to in the near future though. ^^

Yeah, it's good that Deen isn't taking this over. It didn'y capture the correct atmosphere with Higurashi and even worse with Umineko, truth be told, not to mention a lot of things that were found in the visual novels for both of those weren't in the anime. Was anyone else annoyed by the fact that in the beginning of Umineko, Battler didn't mention that Kyrie was his step-mother?

Yeah... there were a few things that bothered me about that.

The problem with Higurashi and Umineko is that they're not really that anime friendly, so condensing the series for the anime makes sense technically but often gives less than satisfactory results in some people's eyes. I wonder if this game works the same way, it doesn't seem like it'll be as long and complex as the When They Cry series, so it might be easier to adapt, but seeing as I haven't played the games, I really can't tell. ^^;

Then why the heck didn't they vouch for 50+ episodes? with so much juicy material they could have made a nice and sturdy 96+ episode series putting shonen to shame.

Any Japanese viewer would've picked up on Kyrie not being his real mother by the way he addressed her.

Mmm~ AIC Studio is handling this? Sweet! Although to be fair never heard of Atsuko Watanabe...

/is calm enough that the game seiyuu is not changed though is getting more than enough of Kobayashi Yuu in Ryuukishi works but eh that's beside the point since it's originally game's CV anyway.

A few days back before this game made a debut,
I was thinking that there would be something like, "Ookami no Naku Koro Ni"
or something like that would be Ryukishi07's next title.
When this came out, I was like "WOAH, for real?"

Really scared/excited the crap outta me.
Do I have Hanyuu behind me or something?

~Travis.
I was thinking the same thing to but like something taking place in a smaller city in the mountains. I wonder if it will be like that for this one or his next project.

Isn't it just Kanon in Umineko? Satoshi talked like once in 50 episodes of Higurashi... I want to hear more Kobayashi Yuu

Peach Pit draws beautiful character faces, but as for the body, probably not so much. It's the same thing with Rozen Maiden imo.

It's not like I don't like her but... It's just a sentiment you know? Like she is practically on 3 series of 3 animated works of Ryukishi, as much as Satoshi had so very few lines, Kobayashi still voiced him ^^'

Can't wait for this series to be honest. The first time I read the description in the chart I was thinking about Higurashi, is my favorite franchise till now. Even though I was still rather skeptical, it wasn't till I found out Ryukishi07 himself was behind Ōkami Kakushi.

And on top off that I've also heard this series has a Scythe fetish so hell yeah, I'm am officially stoked for this.

Especially since Umineko didn't really meet my expectations up till now. Where you could feel the sorrow when a character in Higurashi died, in Umineko, they just die and you're like 'Oh... ok then'.
So I hope the cast for Ōkami Kakushi is smaller and has a good amount of character development. (Yes, haven't seen anything of this franchise yet, so I'm blindly approaching this)

56 episodes. Rei and Gaiden?

But to be on-topic, I'm really looking forward to this.

And a Ryuukishi07 anime NOT done by Deen?

...

...maybe we'll get more than half the plot this time?
