Disney buys MARVEL comics.

That's right, Walt Disney has aquired in a 100% all the actions of MARVEL comics along with the more than 5000 characters of the universe for the prize of $4,000,000,000.

Now the question is what's gonna hapend with the MARVEL comics? The upcoming movies of MARVEL? (Ironman 2, Thor, First Avenger Captain America, Spyder-man 4 , etc...) Are we gonna see the characters of MARVEL in cross overs with the Disney heroes? (Like say... Spyder-man with Captain Jack Sparrow)

Time will tell.

I smell a Kingdom Hearts with Marvel characters in it in the future.

Seriously though, Disney has stated that it does not plan to change Marvel to fit the Disney brand and that the current management for Marvel will stay.

Quote:
Iger also told CNBC that the acquisition was not a signal of more buys ahead for Disney and he said that Disney was looking to emphasize the Marvel name rather than re-brand it in the Disney name.

Hopefully, they are true to their word.

haha Disney would own Marvel(pun intended)

Captain America's got squat on....eh...a Mr Incredible!

but wow this is some move by Disney, very interesting but I don't them making any changes for the foreseeable future, would be bad to mess with a working formula atm.

Here's one from Yahoo.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Disney...17139.html?x=0

Also I can't imagine super heroes teaming up with Disney ala Kingdom Hearts style or Marvel Alliance. XD

Good news here is that...

Just remember that Disney's main "enemy" Warner Brothers has the rights of MARVEL's main "enemy": DC comics, and they don't seem to be that bad.

We need another Who framed Roger Rabbit animation film so Warner and Disney could get along.

Yeah, you got a point there. And like Dilla said, Disney does not plan to change Marvel to fit its brand.

I posted this elsewhere, so I'll regurgitate it here...Context of some words are different because of certain aspects said in a certain conversation, but the theme is still there...

Quote:
Disney bought Marvel as an asset, meaning Disney now completely owns a share in Marvel's stock as well as their copyrights, meaning that any revenue generated under Marvel will now also go under Disney, meaning Disney will profit even more with Marvel under it's ownership...

Being bought out as an asset does not necessarily mean a change in management unless otherwise explicitly stated, such as a government bailout to a private corporation, where in this case, the purchase is completely financial...

The Disney-ABC Television Group owns assets to many cable and broadcast media outlets, such as ABC, A&E, Lifetime, and The History Channel among others, and Disney also owns assets to ESPN Inc....Do you see content on any of those channels pussified? No...

Marvel will still run and act as the same Marvel it always has; It's profits will just be shared with Disney now, that's all there is to it and nothing more...Quit freaking out irrationally like this is a take-over...

/co/ is in rage
I am as well, I hope Disney doesn't do a shitstorm on Marvel comics aka:
* the entire world has changed into some hetero sexual paradise
* women -> kitchen
* no more comics that have a hidden message such as a reaction to some world event/ politics / news

what we might expect:
* Pixar will work together with Marvel, so that CAN be epic but I have heard things from Pixar employers that they are way too conservative so I am expecting epic animations but on Pixar ground rules
* cross covers of Disney and perhaps Deadpool (could be fun lol)

Wonder what will happen to the anime versions of Ironman and Wolverine, who's gonna have the rights to them.

I thought CAPCOM would buy them over instead. It is more lucrative to be under CAPCOM than Disney.

Besides, Marvel characters go as far back as WWII (Captain America). It is time to wind down Marvel already and let new superheroes (Moka/Kurumu from R+V and Negima) take over as "Shining Crosses of Justice" for the rest of the world.
