Im also kinda confused about this second season of Railgun.

So everything that happened in Index season 1 and 2 is BEFORE Railgun season 2?

But then why cover it if this same arc was already covered in Index?
And also Touma was a big part of the sisters arc so will he have alot of scenes in Railgun S2?

Railgun season 2 happens inside Index season 1.

This is from Mikoto's pov and the stuff she did for the sisters arc before Kamijou's intervention.

Everything in Season 1 of Railgun happens before Index (well, not technically true, but close enough). Railgun season 2 happens during Index season 1. This is the same arc from another perspective.

Touma doesn't actually that big of a part in this arc. He just pops in at the very end to save the day. Mikoto had a lot of offscreen troubles she briefly refers to in the Index anime. Touma gets more scenes than usual though, I guess.

No, it was the whole Teresthina thing that had to be retconned not Level Upper. LU arc makes a little reference to Sisters Arc and Body Clear from future novels.

That is canon; she has also brought it up in the main series.

There's something that doesn't seem to fit.

The first season of Index starts with what seems to be Touma and Misaka's first encounter. That whole scene would hardly make sense if it happened after everything that we see from Railgun S1

Moreover Index appears in the EP19 of Railgun S1

Spoiler for Index S1 and/or Railgun S2:

Spoiler for Minor even in Index S1:

Still this would mean that the whole Railgun S1 happens in the same span of time that in Index S1 is covered by merely two episodes...

Or you know, it being the first episode of a new story, they would have to introduce the characters for the audience sake. Even then you knew it was not their first encounter if you listen to their dialogue.

The story of railgun did start before Index, close to a whole month I think, but middle way though the first arc it enters the Index timeline hence why Index and Himegami can be shown in the later parts of Railgun 1st season.

This isn't even up for discussion, we have official dates of when the events took place.

I guess that's what it is, it just sounds strange that Misaka would explain him what a "railgun" is and the fact that he doesn't seem to know.

I think you got me wrong, this is Q&A thread, I was asking for clarifications not trying to start a discussion, which is why I would be glad if you could redirect me to where those official dates are listed.

You can check the toaru wikia which have an extensive timeline page updated to the latest events.

Otherwise you can check the index and railgun manga scans as they are written on the titles if I recall correctly.

Here you go. That's Touma's and Mikoto's official first meeting.

. As it turns out, Railgun starts 3 whole days before Index.

Three days is a lot of time for Kamachi... thats what he calls a slow pace.

That it is. And that's why it feels like it's actually a longer time.

The characters really mean it when they say there is never a dull moment in AC.

Well it's a lot more clear now, so in the end it seems that a good half of railgun s1 happens in parallel with the first episodes of Index s1.... all of that in about 20 days...

I must agree with leukrota, there really isn't a dull moment in AC.

Keep in mind that in the 28 Index novels about 4 months have passed. It's to the point that when volume 11 was released Kamachi wrote a noncanon side story called A Certain March 201st Novel (A parody based around around Touma's graduation.) meaning it will take 172 more novels to cover 2 and a half years.

No. noo. noooo D:

Touma did in fact know Misaka before, he lost his memory and then meet her again giving out that "first encounter" feelings twice.
There is also a part somewhere the says Misaka goes along with it saying that is how their relationship should be. (as rivals, and not friends)

Actually that scene Jan-poo was referring to was the first episode of the Index storyline.
