A "Fight For The Ultimate Power" anime?
Lets see... Sugar-chan has seen Mai-HiME, Rozen Maiden, and Sekirei.
What Sugar-chan is looking for is an anime with a "game" that people try to "win" in order to gain something.

Death sees that Sugar-chan talks in the third person. Death likes that.
As a somewhat comedic suggestion, there is Queen's Blade. But that is an extremely crappy anime and is very prone to boobage (I mean, comeon. Acidic breast milk as a weapon?). Shakugan no Shana has this to an extent. The "bad guys" are fighting to obtain ultimate power, and the "good guys" are fighting to prevent them from gaining that ultimate power. I also feel heavily inclined to second Fate/Stay Night.

There is a fringe anime no one but me has probably even heard of where characters must gather what are called DRAGON BALLS in order to utilize super-ultra-power! Characters have their own reasons for wanting these special magic BALLS and what they all go through on another planet (called "Namek") is pretty dynamic and amazing. I highly recoomend it. It's called DRAGON BALL Z, however, airing currently is a new "more true to the manga" edition called DRAGON BALL KAI. It's awesome.
