Difference between KGNE games
i have just recently been completely hooked by this amazing anime, and i was looking into the KGNE games. but going through all 10 pages of KGNE posts on animesuki, has only made me more confused about the game.
i was wondering if anyone could help me clear up the differences between the 4 versions of the game that i heard about. apparently there is a 2 disk version, a dvd version, a dreamcast version, and a playstation 2 version. my guess is that the dvd version is exact same thing as the 2 disk version, and the console versions should just be the dvd/2disk versions without the eechi scenes. although i'm not as interested in seeing the KGNE cast naked as much as i am interested in fully figuring out the story. i do wish to purchase the most 'full' version of the game. so is there one version that has the the entire story, all the features and complete scenes (bascially not lacking anything from other versions)? it would suck to have to purchase more than 1 version of the game just to get all the features and finally figure out what's going on. (oh and as a side note, my friend who has the 2 disk version was only able to tell me that his was censored. are all versions like this or 2 disk specific or an import deal? thanks in advance for any help. -kokennin |

wow. thanks for the awesome clear-up. really appreciate it. so i guess the DVD version would be the best buy then. i also heard that all games imported from japan are censored, so i guess there's no way around that. (unless even the ones in japan are also censored, please correct me if wrong) thanks |

Because of him, any material "that shows male/female genitalia visibly are rendered to be illegal" in Japan. Good thing to censor priceless Edo-period ukiyoe art pictures too. |

so no uncensored kimi ga ANYWHERE on the earth... -_- how disheartening. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- on further reflection, i've recall *accidentally* downloading some uncensored material before, and i'm somewhat sure that they were released after the WWII occupation. i remember hearing something about censoring everything that comes from Japan, but i still think it's weird that EVERYTHING in Japan would be censored. poor all those lonely and horny men in japan...it's not that i don't believe you kj1980, you've already been so helpful. i was just wondering if anyone can confirm this and help put my mind at ease so i'm not scouring through every website and porn store from here to japan for the rest of my life trying to find an uncensored KGNE... >.< Last edited by KoKennin; 2004-03-05 at 01:20. |

If someone was to buy the game licence to sell in america, they'd probably get around it...
Sorta like hentai you buy in america is uncen, while the Japanese ones ares... the law is only in Japan, not other countries... (and such a silly law -__-...) |

There is no American version, as no company has licenced distribution rights for North America for any version of the line: PC game, PS game, television series, etc. If you see a censored version of anything for the computer, whether you downloaded the game (naughty!) or physically imported it, it is because it was that way in Japan. Importers don't have the technical skills to modify those programs, and neither any for-profit firm or amateur group has expressed interest in buying access to age's engine and doing so, so if there were a law against uncensored hentai in the US (which there isn't), either the stuff wouldn't be imported, or it would be illegally.
On the other hand, if you see an uncensored hentai or ero game for the computer (or game console, but that will never happen for public relations reasons), it no doubt exists because somebody bought the license and redid the scenes. By corollary, it would be in English (or Chinese would be more likely--and I hear that such things exist both through license and pirating over there, but I may be wrong) and not in Japanese. If you want to see uncut KimiNozo, you'll have to get a software firm to make it for you. I guess it's also noteworthy that KimiNozo imports are hard to find and get unless you know what you're doing. himeya.com is good, of course, for all software and video games, and there are comparable sites. But Amazon just pulls up half a dozen results for a search on "nozomu eien," and all of them are game music and portrait CDs. I suppose that supplying Japanese-language computer games is considered absurd, even if they aren't borderline pornographic, and as for console games, you need to make [illegal, I think] adjustments to your American systems to even be able to play them. (Who would want to buy them? How many people in this country can even read Japanese? The game is an absurd purchase if you can't, although it is possible to enjoy it if you already have an attachment to the story, whereas foreign language music can be appreciated even without language ability.)

Personally I have never played the original version, since it's so hard to come by, I think it's practically impossible to get outside of Japan... and there are some fans insisting on that the original version is the best version... they say that the extra hentai scenes and plots added in the DVD spec version destroy the perfect atmosphere of the original romance story or something... (some even say the original version already have a bit too much hentai stuff for such a heavily romance-oriented story, so the DVD spec version is even worse in this)
I only played the DC version and the DVD spec version, well, I like the DVD spec version... since it got hentai scenes ![]() I don't know about import games being censored... I always think since it's "import" from Japan, it should be the same one available in Japan... I know some licensed hentai games released outside of Japan got censored by their non-Japan publishers, but no one will be able to do the censoring for the import version, the importers obviously lack the resources and skills to do it. And as far as I know, there are no censored DVD spec version of KGNE, even if you go to Japan and kick all the executives at Age Soft, any DVD spec version available now is uncensored, meaning hentai complete version. Only the console versions are censored. There is no all-age version of KGNE for PC as far as I know. So if you can get your hands on a PC version of KGNE (mostly likely the DVD spec version, and if you are so lucky to get an original verison, maybe you can sell it to one of those diehard KGNE fans for a buckload of money), it's definitely uncensored.

Go with the DVD Specification..
But beware the install.. The game itself still occupies 1.5GB of my hard drive. It is in no way a 'small' game. If you manage to finish the game in a respectable amount of time, (it took me three days to get my first ending) I'd recommend you play Muv Luv (I think that's how it's spelled). As an added bonus, Akane makes a cameo in this game. Although the main characters look alot like clones of the characters from Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. ![]() EDIT: Odd.. I remember my DVD Spec. being censored.. |

I think he is defining:
censored = game(s) without ero-scenes uncensored = game(s) with ero-scenes Whereas the question here that I was implying was: censored = ero-scenes with mosaic blur in genital insertion uncensored = ero-scenes without mosaic blur in genital insertion |

so ULTIMATELY (for clarification purposes)...
1) there is NO legal uncensored japanese version of KGNE 2) there will NOT be an uncensored version of KGNE UNTIL someone spends the time and money to buy the license of the game and uncensores it, which is VERY unlikely. 3) the DVD specification version is the best one for me to buy please someone tell me if i'm right (hearing the words 'you are right' instead of long explainations will helps my assurance). thank you.. ^_^ |
