As if the God of War rip-off game based (not so much based, as tortured and then raped before being left for dead) on one of the greatest works of fiction in human history wasn't bad enough, now there is going to be an anime...

Well, at least this is only the first sign of the apocalypse, and as so long as Demi Moore is still willing to die for our sins, we should be able to weather Dante's Inferno: The Movie...

I must admit, I am actually really looking forward to getting my hands on the game in February. Now an animated movie? Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

Nice one Rick!

Well, looks cool. I definitely would be interested in seeing this. I'll put it on my to-do list.

I do wonder how closely it will resemble the actual Dante's Inferno, though. I have my doubts there, but it should be interesting nonetheless.

Do you mean in relation to the poem, or the game. As I think the game has slightly deviated from the poem.

In relation to the poem, for me. I haven't even looked at the game, and based off the trailer I already see a ton of differences when compared to the original written work.

If you can find a copy of this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Inferno-Larry-Niven/dp/0671670557
Its a Pournelle/Niven sci-fi-fantasy take on a retelling of the 9 circles of hell... being familiar with the original poem, I thought it a good time spent.

If they had decided to make the game exactly as the poem, that wouldn't been very funny to play.

Here, in this vid the makers talk a bit about liberties in relation with the poem in one part. (2:42)

But let's not gte out off topic, this thread is to talk about an animated movie with anime.style. If you people wish, we could create a thread for Dante's Inferno game at the Games section.

I think you're misinterpreting just how many people loved the original poem, but eh, I digress.

I love the poem too, it is probably my favourite piece of literature, and I'm looking forward to the game too.

I mean this will not be the first time a book is severaly changed in an actual age adaptation. Just think on the animes of Montecristo and Romeo & Juliet or in that horror game who was bassed on Alice in Wonderland (can't remember the title but it was a PC game XP)

I'll watch it. I wish they would make animated films of more of the classics. To me, the animated film is the most artistic way to realize it as opposed to live action.

Evil Rick: That's American McGee's Alice. Interesting artistry, bland gameplay. Tragic; it could have been one of the best experiences I've ever had if McGee was actually a remotely competent game creator.

Except it's not going to be even close to the poems in tone or style...

Personally, I find the idea of Action Hero Dante to be absolutely offensive. I don't mind reinterpretations, but do they really need some generic animated action in as philosophical a work as the Inferno? The poet-sojourner has been turned into a vulgar, barbaric Medieval knight fighting a villainous demon to save his girl. No, no, no!

In this point I do agree, I think that this could had worked better if they had used an original character instead of the Florence Poet for the game. (taking the desriptions gave in Inferno as the mainreference for the story of course)
