Contemporary classical or pre-modern?
You can try some of Tan Dun's other stuff (he composed the score for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). Toru Takemitsu is an intriguing blend of traditional Asian and European avant-garde. *edit: Also you might want to search for instrumental compilations (e.g., Chinese Music for the Pipa). |

There's this group of Chinese girls called 'Jyoshi Juuni Gakubou' (in Japanese, I'm not sure about the Chinese name) that play some awesome music. In case you've never heard of them, it is a group of twelve girls playing traditional asian music in multiple styles. They're awesome.
